Description

Come along for a Spring Climbing tour in the Adriatic Paradise!

Escape the ordinary this Easter and join us for a guided sport-climbing holiday set on the sun-drenched limestone of Croatia’s beautiful Istria. Enjoy mild spring weather, flowering landscapes, and long days on the rock as you climb, learn, and explore with friendly coaches and fellow climbers.

Istria’s climbing playground includes scenic seaside crags in Rovinj, the dramatic limestone fjord of Limski Kanal, the tucked-away canyon of Vela Draga inside Učka Nature Park, and technical inland routes around Buzet. On rest days you can wander medieval hilltop towns and visit coastal sights like Pula, sample local olive oil and truffles, or enjoy a relaxed wine tasting.

This trip is ideal for climbers who want to kick-start their outdoor season, improve technique and grades, or simply discover a top European climbing region with expert guidance. Whether you’re a motivated beginner eager to learn or an experienced climber pushing for harder routes, our coaches focus on skill development, safety, and getting the most time on rock.

    Accommodation

Rockbusters arranges simple shared accommodation for the duration of the trip. Our priority is to ensure you have a comfortable place to rest while immersing you in the local climbing community. For this reason, we typically stay in climbing hostels, cottages, campsites, or guesthouses managed by local climbers.

If you prefer a higher standard of accommodation, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss alternative options.

    Disclaimer

A minimum of three participants is required to run the trip. If this number is not reached, we will offer you an alternative trip or course of equal or higher value, or provide a full refund.

Equipment you will need to bring

Please bring well-fitting climbing shoes, a harness, a helmet, a belay device, two locking (screw-gate) carabiners, and a 60 cm sling.

We provide most of the technical equipment; however, you will need to bring your own climbing shoes and harness. Belay devices, slings, and helmets are available, although many climbers prefer to use their own familiar gear.

We also strongly recommend packing a down jacket, a warm hat, a rain jacket, comfortable approach shoes, a headlamp, a sleeping bag, and a backpack large enough to carry your lunch and climbing equipment to the crag.

I booked this trip because I was very curious to experience DWS and doing it with an experienced guide felt like the safest way to do so. It was definitely a good choice. If you're doubting it I recommend booking and I hope you get paired up with our guide Noè aswell since he was truly amazing. Some extra tips for those that do plan the trip. Make sure you rent a car, preferably together with the other people joining in on the trip. The accommodation was nice but you do sleep together in the same room as the others so bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. And please do bring comfortable climbing and water shoes as you'll be walking and climbing alot and you don't want to end up with blisters the first day.

Noé was amazing. He accommodated our schedule, took us to an amazing spot, taught us what we needed to know, and challenged us. Highly recommend!

As an intermediate climber with little outdoor experience, one day of climbing was perfect. My guide, Victor, was great. Fortunately I booked it at the beginning of my stay, because the conditions on the day I booked were not good. He still showed me around multiple climbing locations I could go back to trying to find a calmer area. When we couldn't safely climb that day, they added me to a group a few days later so I still got to climb. The climbing was a lot of fun, and the guide made sure we were prepared for everything we did. They really know the area, the climbs, and take safety seriously.

This trip was falsely advertised to a group of people who are not a group of climbers. The number of people to the number of guide was not proportion: 15 people to 2 guides. They did not take into consideration that everyone on the trip may not climb the same grades and picked cliffs that only contained advanced routes. As a fairly strong climber myself, I found it difficult to keep up with the rest of the group. And for accommodations, no company prepared us for what we were about to walk into. We understood the accommodations were not going to be luxurious, but we walked into essentially a camping trip without the proper gear. We were not prepared or told to bring camping gear or the basics like hand soap, bowls/plates/utensils. One of the most frustrating things about the trip was communication. There was not proper communication between the local guides and us on the kind of approaches and length and proper footwear. And while we understand that we are at the mercy of the weather for most of the DWS, plans were not expressed timely to our group so it often felt like a scramble to know where/when/what time things were to occur. Overall, poor planning and management. But as a fellow climber, I did enjoy myself and enjoyed trying DWS. I would go back to Mallorca for DWS, but would not book through Rockbusters and/or ExploreShare
