Muntania invites you to discover the most iconic corners of La Palma, one of the most striking islands in the Canary Islands.
Over eight days, we will explore its extensive network of trails, crossing steep landscapes, ravines, volcanic terrain, and some of the island’s most beautiful natural spaces. In Caldera de Taburiente National Park, we will walk among dramatic slopes and deep canyons, while in Cumbre Vieja Natural Park we will cross volcanic craters and admire the spectacular salt flats of Fuencaliente.
We will also visit one of the finest laurel forests in the Canary Islands in Las Nieves Natural Park, and hope to enjoy the spectacular sight of Roque de los Muchachos above a sea of clouds at sunset.
Thanks to the island’s mild climate of “eternal spring” and the peaceful atmosphere of our accommodation, this experience is as comfortable as it is memorable.
Each day we will travel by private transport to a different part of the island to enjoy its landscapes, villages, people, and gastronomy.
Known as La Isla Bonita, this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is a land of contrasts, shaped by both human life and powerful geology. It also boasts one of the cleanest atmospheres on Earth and is home to the renowned astronomical observatory at Roque de los Muchachos.
Another highlight is the Tajogaite volcano, formed during the island’s historic 2021 eruption, and the magnificent Caldera de Taburiente, one of the Canary Islands’ most impressive natural wonders.
Explore La Palma with expert guides and enjoy a unique trekking experience—join the trip today.
Arrival in Santa Cruz de La Palma, welcome for participants, and transfer to our accommodation. Depending on flight times, there may also be time for a walk through Cubo de la Galga or to visit the area affected by the island’s most recent eruption. Distance: 9 km | Ascent: 400 m | Descent: 400 m
Today we explore one of the island’s most dramatic areas on a route that follows the volcanic ridge between the eastern and western sides of La Palma. From the trail, we will enjoy views toward La Gomera, Teide, El Hierro, and even the Atlantic beyond. Leaving from the Pilar Refuge, we will cross volcanic craters and beautiful Canary pine forest, passing landmarks such as Brigoyo, Black Hole Crater, Nambroque, Peach Crater, and El Deseado. There is also the option of finishing in Fuencaliente on a linear route. Distance: 14 km | Ascent: 770 m | Descent: 770 m
One of the most impressive hikes on the island, this route takes us through 13 water tunnels into the heart of a stunning natural landscape in the Los Tilos Reserve, home to lush laurel forest. After a steady ascent through dense vegetation, we reach the springs and continue through scenic ravines and tunnel sections carved into the rock. From Casa del Monte, we descend to Las Lomadas and return to the starting point by taxi. Distance: 20 km | Ascent: 900 m | Descent: 1,100 m
We enter the spectacular Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a vast erosive basin surrounded by peaks over 2,000 metres high. After reaching Brecitos by 4x4, we begin a long descent through pine forests, ravines, and striking geological formations.
The hike ends in Angustias Ravine, following the water toward the Atlantic, with a visit to the Waterfall of Colors along the way. We finish the day at Tazacorte Beach. Distance: 16 km | Ascent: 160 m | Descent: 990 m
On this freer day, we visit the Caldera de Taburiente National Park Interpretation Center to better understand the island’s geological history. We also visit the Tajogaite Volcano, formed during La Palma’s most recent eruption.
If time allows, we will explore Santa Cruz de La Palma, with its charming colonial architecture.
Today we enjoy one of the most unforgettable routes on the island, with spectacular views over the Caldera de Taburiente and the sea of clouds.
Starting from the road that climbs to Roque de los Muchachos, we hike from near Pico de las Nieves to the highest point on the island, passing along the caldera rim and through an area dotted with major astronomical observatories. Distance: 13 km | Ascent: 920 m | Descent: 400 m
We head into the lush world of laurel forest in the Zarza Cultural Park, entering Magdalena Ravine to discover the unique cabocos, natural rock hollows formed by waterfalls.
One of the highlights is the impressive Water Cauldron, after which we return along a different route through traditional agricultural landscapes. Distance: 7 km | Ascent: 240 m | Descent: 240 m
Depending on the flight schedule, we may visit the beautiful Fuencaliente Salt Flats in the south of the island.
There we will walk near the lighthouse and learn how salt is produced through the traditional extraction process.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
