    Itinerary

    Day 1: Interlaken to Lobhornhütte

The trek begins in Interlaken at 570 meters and heads toward the Lauterbrunnen Valley, one of the most impressive glacial valleys in the Alps. Known for its waterfalls and dramatic limestone walls, the valley sets the tone for the journey.

From there, the trail climbs through forests and alpine meadows toward Lobhornhütte, located at 1,955 meters. This family-run mountain hut offers outstanding views over the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Jungfrau massif.

    Overnight: Lobhornhütte

    Day 2: Lobhornhütte to Rockstockhütte

From Lobhornhütte, the route traverses high alpine ridges with wide panoramic views of the Bernese Oberland. The trail crosses remote alpine pastures and rocky terrain before reaching Rockstockhütte, a secluded mountain refuge above the Kiental Valley.

This stage offers a strong sense of wilderness, and wildlife sightings such as chamois and marmots are possible.

    Overnight: Rockstockhütte

Day 3: Rockstockhütte to Berghaus Tschingelhorn

This stage follows a spectacular traverse above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, with views of the Tschingelhorn Glacier and the Blümlisalp massif. The route descends through wild alpine terrain before reaching Berghaus Tschingelhorn, a traditional mountain guesthouse at 1,685 meters.

The upper Lauterbrunnen Valley is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage area, and this section includes some of the most dramatic scenery of the trek, with hanging glaciers, vertical rock walls, and protected alpine flora.

    Overnight: Berghaus Tschingelhorn

Day 4: Tschingelhorn to Gimmelwald or Kleine Scheidegg

This is the flexible stage of the itinerary. Depending on the final route and available time, the group may continue toward Gimmelwald or cross the valley toward Kleine Scheidegg.

One option is to descend through the upper Lauterbrunnen Valley toward Gimmelwald, a car-free alpine village known for its authentic mountain atmosphere, traditional chalets, and views of the Jungfrau massif.

Another option is to continue from Stechelberg and pass the famous Trümmelbach Falls, a series of glacial waterfalls inside the mountain, before climbing through the Wengen area toward Kleine Scheidegg, the famous saddle below the Eiger North Face.

    Overnight: Gimmelwald or Kleine Scheidegg

Day 5: Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald and Schynige Platte

From Kleine Scheidegg, the route descends to Grindelwald, the famous glacier village located below the Eiger, Wetterhorn, and Schreckhorn. After exploring Grindelwald, the trail climbs again through forests and alpine meadows toward Schynige Platte, at 1,967 meters.

Schynige Platte is one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the Bernese Oberland, with views of the Jungfrau massif on one side and Lake Thun and Lake Brienz on the other. The area is also known for its alpine botanical garden and historic cogwheel railway.

A train option may be available for participants who prefer to reduce the hiking distance.

    Overnight: Schynige Platte area

Day 6: Schynige Platte to Interlaken

The final stage descends from Schynige Platte back toward Interlaken, completing the circular trekking route. The trail passes through forests and alpine meadows, with final views of the Jungfrau massif and the twin lakes of Thun and Brienz.

The trek ends in Interlaken, where participants can celebrate the completion of the journey. Depending on conditions and timing, there may also be an opportunity to swim in the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz.

    End point: Interlaken

Always thinking of new and different activities, the routes I propose are not limited to walking through beautiful places... you will remember the experience for life!

With a degree in Digital Journalism, I try to organize innovative programs that value local resources and traditions.

I can not conceive the mountain without friends and I believe that there is no better experience than a bivouac under the stars.

I’d highly recommend Picos de Europa, and especially Andrés as guide. Beautiful scenery, authentic rural life and serious hiking. Andrés was really great - very helpful and fun. Don’t miss visiting his friend, Ana, in the village - best cabrales cheese and conversation guaranteed!

Excellent. Guias de Picos guided us in his last trip because he will take new post in Switzerland. He did very good job. We all enjoyed the hiking although heavy rain in first day.

We spent a great weekend in the mountains. We had pending the ascent of Urriellu peak, and on the summit, we improvised a wedding ceremony for our friends. The next day the guide made the wonderful choice of taking us to Boru peak. We were very well advised from the beginning, before and during the trip. There are thousands of things to do in Picos de Europa, so I'll be back for sure!
