Located in the southern extreme of Switzerland, the canton of Ticino straddles the border with the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy. It is actually the only canton of the country where the official language is Italian. The great lush forests blanket the majority of the canton, as well as being home to two large lakes, Maggiore and Lugano. The climate and altitude also makes it an ideal spot for wine making.
The climate of the region is temperate with glacial conditions, and during the summer months receives warm and humid weather.
