Description
Do you have dreams of climbing in some of the world’s most famous mountain ranges? Do you want to enjoy spectacular views from the summits of mountains like Denali (6,190m) or Alpamayo (5,947m)? Then you need to learn the skills necessary to do so. And this full day introductory mountaineering course in the beautiful Adirondack mountains in upstate New York is a great place to start.
The Adirondack mountains are well known for their rugged terrain and unpredictable conditions. They are also full of fantastic views that will only heighten your experience.
Even though this course only lasts one day, you will still have a chance to learn a great deal. A few examples of what we will be covering include the following.
Self belay and self arrest
Crampon and ice axe techniques
Ice and snow anchors
Rope team movement
Crevasse rescue
We will also instruct you on route finding, and other important techniques as well.
Since this is an introductory course, previous mountaineering experience is not required. However, you should be in good enough physical condition to handle the rigors of the day.
If you want to learn about mountaineering, the best place to learn is in the mountains themselves. I believe the Adirondack mountains are a great range for learning, while also giving you a great experience full of amazing views.
