Join me on this incredible hiking tour to the Aletsch Glacier, in the south of Switzerland. It consists in a 2-day glacier trek on the largest glacier in the Alps. With 23 km long and a total surface of 120 km² the Aletsch Glacier has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
The tour starts at Jungfraujoch, the railway station of the Jungfraubahn train, which is the highest station in Europe (3,454 m). We will then cross the Jungfraufirn glacier so we can get to the Konkordia hut, where we’ll spend the night. This trek will take approximately 3 or 4 hours, depending on the fitness level of the group.
Our second day will be dedicated to walk over the Aletsch Glacier and discover its immensity. We will continue hiking in direction to the Märjelensee Lake. Here we can refresh ourselves at the Gletscherstuba (Stubai Glacier) and finally walk to the Fiescheralp-Fiesch station (hiking time: 6 hours).
