Join certified IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide Pedro Pablo Sermini Lesser for a beautiful one-day ski touring ascent of the iconic Volcán Lonquimay, located in the heart of Chilean Patagonia’s volcanic Andes.
Starting from the mountain town of Malalcahuello, this adventure offers an outstanding combination of accessible terrain, breathtaking volcanic scenery, and long ski descents on one of the most aesthetic volcanoes in southern Chile.
The ascent follows broad volcanic slopes with spectacular views of the surrounding Andean landscape, including ancient lava fields, native araucaria forests, and neighboring volcanoes. Depending on snow conditions and the group’s pace, we aim to reach the summit at 2,865 meters, where an unforgettable 360° panorama awaits.
After enjoying the summit, we transition for a long and rewarding ski descent back toward the lower slopes, often finding excellent corn snow during the austral spring season.
This program is ideal for skiers with previous backcountry skiing experience and good physical condition who are looking for a classic volcano ski mountaineering experience in the Chilean Andes.

Pedro was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, encouraging, and patient during the climb and descent! I was having some issues especially on the descent, and he was patient and helped me down with some extra care. Appreciated that he gave many little tips on equipment use, mountaineering techniques, and route picking, and we practiced recovery before we started. He gave great explanations on the region, volcano itself, and made it an unforgettable journey.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
