I’m a mountain guide of UIAGM –IFMGA. I was born in 1983, I live in Pucón, a small city in the northern Patagonia of Chile, a long and narrow country of mountains, that permits do a ski and ski tour in winter and spring and rock climbing and mountaineering in the spring, summer, and autumn.

I love all the mountains sports and enjoy spending my time there.  
I start to guide since 2012 as a national mountain guide and since 2016 as an international mountain guide of UIAGM-IFMGA.

This **4-day Cerro El Plomo expedition** is a great adventure for the nature lovers who also like to learn the history of the place they are visiting.

The **Cerro El Plomo** **(5424 m)** is the highest summit visible from **Santiago de Chile**. And it can be seen from any point of this city, so it’s a constant invitation to conquer its summit.

Also it is of great historical tradition for the south american ancient population. It was an _**Apu**_ **(Guardian) for the Incas**: a sacred mountain that gave protection to the valleys which watered their crops.

This 4-day expedition is not a technically difficult hike. But, since we’ll go up to 5424 meters, it will be physically challenging and we’ll go slow. During the last hundred meters we’ll progress through a glacier using Crampons and Ice axe.

And all our effort will be rewarded at the summit, where we’ll see an incredible view of the **Central Andes Range**, including **Mount Aconcagua** in the west. There’s also an amazing view of **Santiago**.

This mountain was my first inspiration as a kid, since I looked at it every day from the city. So I would love to guide you up there!

Transfer from Santiago to Valle Nevado. Short and easy hike to the Base Camp in Piedra Numerada (3300 m). Acclimatization in the camp and night at dome tent.

The mules will take our gear in the morning. We’ll hike for 5 hours through an easy path with a 900 altitude gain to Camp Federación (4130 m). Here we’ll set our tents and plan the next day.

Early start towards the summit. We’ll pass through the sector of La Olla, the Pirka of the Inca, the Glacier and hopefully arrive at noon to the summit. Then we’ll go back to camp Federación.

Hike down to Valle Nevado. The mules will carry our gear down. We’ll get to Valle Nevado at 4pm aproximatley and take the transfer to Santiago, where we’ll arrive at 7pm.

4-day Cerro El Plomo expedition

This **5-day San Jose Volcano Expedition** will take you to an emblematic and active volcano in the heart of the **Cordillera de los Andes**.

**San Jose Volcano** **(5856 m)** is located in the border between **Chile** and **Argentina**. From the Chilean side it is situated in the **Metropolitan region** **of Santiago de Chile.** And the summit can be easily approached from this side. Our hike will start 60 kms east of **Santiago**, near the town of **San Gabriel** in the region of **San José del Maipo**.

During this very special expedition we'll climb a very active volcano above 5800 meters. We'll be going through a wild environment with amazing views of the valley and the **Cordillera de los Andes**.

We'll spend the night at traditional mountain huts or in tents right there on the slopes, where you'll feel all the power of the Andean nights, where the stars cover the sky and the moon light the snow in the mountains.

Plus, reaching the summit will be an amazing experience, because we'll be surrounded not only by the amazing mountain scenery, but also we'll be able to look inside the volcano's crater!

: Cargo is transported with mules.

The first day we walk on a path in a valley with little slope and then start climbing up to the Refuge Plantat at 3130msnm, an old and rustic refuge at the foot of the volcano.  
The shelter does not have any services. 800m+ vertical drop / 4 hours walk.

From here onwards each participant loads his backpack.

Second day of expedition we must already load our backpacks, ascend to a section that provides us with water and allows us to set up camp around 4100m.

Refugio Plantat - Camp 1 (4000 m)

Third day we continue our ascent until the 4900m. loading our backpacks, we eat and we sleep early for the next day.

Camp 1 - Camp 2 (4900 m)

Fourth day is the attempt to summit, around 4am we start the long journey from our high camp to the crater of the volcano, at noon we arrive at the summit, exposed to sulfur gas and wind, an incredible panorama on all sides, we give a hug summit, we descend to the high camp and if the forces allow it to the refuge Plantat.

Fifth day we descend to the Cabrerio and Santiago.

During this one week expedition I'll take you to the best spots of the **Chilean regions of Lake district and the Araucanía**. This beautiful trip ascending active volcanoes with more than 1200 m vertical drop each day is promise a great adventure.

We'll climb 6 different volcanoes and in the middle of our journey we'll take a day off in a **relaxing hot springs**, to rest and gather energy for the remaining three days.

In every ascent we'll go as high as possible with our skins and then put the skis in our backpacks and continue hiking through the ridges to the summits. The view of the **Cordillera de los Andes** will be incredibly amazing in every summit. Plus we'll be able to see our next goals and our previous summits as the days go by.

You’ll be amazed by the **symmetrical cone shaped peaks of the volcanoes**. and by the activity of some of them. Sometimes it is possible to see the lava exploding inside the crater and the large fumaroles.
