Description

Set in the heart of North Cascade National Park, Forbidden Peak is an incredibly beautiful but steep climb that has been heralded as one of the 50 classic climbs of North America.

While the approach is strenuous and the climb requires glacier travel and steep ascents up exposed rock, the views from the top of the west ridge are phenomenal.

The reward for all of your effort is excellent views out over the surrounding peaks as well as out over the massive Boston Glacier.

This three-day adventure starts in Seattle, where we will meet up on day one and make the 2.5 hour drive into the park. Once we've arrived at the trailhead, we will climb a steep and rugged trail into the Boston Basin, gaining 3,200 feet in elevation. We will either make our camp at the tree line or just beneath an unnamed pocket glacier.

Beginning our second day with a predawn start,  we will ascend the pocket glacier at the base of the south face of Forbidden Peak and traverse to the West Ridge Couloir. This is followed with a steep, 40 to 50 degree climb through the snow until we reach the crest of the ridge.

From here, we will exchange our mountain boots for rock shoes and climb up to the top of the peak on its solid Skagit gneiss.

After enjoying the incredible views, we will descend back down and spend the night at our camp. The following day, we return to the car and then to Seattle.

So what are you waiting for? Book now for this incredible 3-day mountaineering experience to the top of Forbidden Peak!

If you like the look of this trip then we think you will also enjoy our 5-day ascent of Mt Rainier via the Emmons-Winthrop Glacier Route!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
