Cougourde Refuge (Mercantour) snowshoeing tour

Come with me and explore the wonderful natural spots of the Mercantour National Park. From the Boreón to the Cougourde Refuge, I invite you to enjoy a guided snowshoeing tour through some of the most amazing landscapes in France! 

With an extension of 685 kilometres, the Mercantour National Park is a very popular park in the Maritime Alps department of France. It has a wide variety of wildlife and vegetation to admire. The Cougourde Refuge, which is inside of the park, is situated near the Cougourde Peak (2,921 meters). This mountain is one of the most famous summits of the region. 

We will start the snowshoe tour at the Borne Nordic Center. This place is one of the most important ski stations apart from the Alps d’Azur. It is near the Saint-Martin Vésubie, a village in the Maritime Alps that is also the main entrance to the Mercantour National Park. From the village, you will be able to enjoy the view of the gorgeous wolves of the Alpha Park.

Meanwhile, we will walk through the snow-covered Boreón stream. After that, in the heart of the Mercantour park, we will discover an incredible larch forest surrounded by the area’s highest peaks. At this point, you will get the chance to see many beautiful and elegant chamois. Then, we will reach the Cougourde Refuge and have lunch.

This journey will take us around 5 hours. We will also be trekking across 600 meters of incline. As a result, it is mandatory that you are in good physical condition.
