Description

Live an unforgettable experience trekking across the Royal Seat of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, near Madrid, Spain.

We’ll begin our adventure at the Bosque de la Herrería, Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. First, we’ll pick you up from your hotel, or at the meeting point early in the morning. Thereon we’ll head towards this fascinating park, a protected area of 30,000 hectares.

Here, you’ll encounter enchanting woods, dazzling creeks and lagoons and majestic meadows and mountains. Also, it has 11 ecosystems, which include high Alpine mediterranean vegetation, unique to the area. It hosts more than 1,280 species, 13 in danger of being extinct. Furthermore, many curious creatures call this place home. So keep your eyes open and your cameras ready. As you might see eagles, wolves, boars, deer, mountain goats and foxes amongst other animals and plants.

Then, after this trek through nature, we’ll head towards the El Escorial. This enchanting and monumental town was a symbol of the power of Spain in the XVI century. Here, King Philip II resided.

So El Escorial was a monastery, a church and a royal palace. Also, it worked as a school, university and museum. And it was a pantheon and a hospital. It is an architectural gem that hosts ancient libraries and royal chambers and a wonderful collection of paintings. What’s more, it is famous for being a burial site of former Spanish kings.
