Description

Join me on this 1-day program and discover a fantastic natural area as we hike the Julier Pass in the Central Eastern Alps, in Switzerland.

In the commune of Sankt Moritz, in the Canton of Grisons, the Julier Pass is a high mountain pass that belongs to the Abula Range, in the Alps. Apart from its beautiful landscapes, this is a very interesting historical area. Here, we’ll find remains of Roman cart tracks and constructions as well as million year old marine fossils.

The starting point of our hike will be La Veduta guest house, at an altitude of 2,233 meters. The trail will lead us through Val d’Agnel, near Piz d’Agnel, and we’ll contemplate the impressive Corn Alv. Afterwards, we’ll continue through an amazing desert landscape and find a lake in the middle of the mountains, the Fuorcla digl Leget, at an altitude of 2,711 meters. Finally, we’ll reach Himmelstor and descend through Val Natons and Alp Natons.

Please, take into account that it’s mandatory to have a very good level of fitness to take part of this trip. The complete duration of the program will be 6 hours with a distance of 11 kilometers. We’ll face an elevation gain of 500 meters at the ascent and 950 meters at the descent. Also, consider that the starting and ending points are not the same.
