  • Trekking in the snow is a unique experience

  • Enjoy the striking beauty of Sierra de Guadarrama National Park in the winter

  • An experienced guide guarantees safety and fun

Join me on this snowshoeing tour to explore the beautiful Sierra de Guadarrama National Park while trekking on recently fallen snow.

The park, while stunning year-round, becomes a winter wonderland from December to April. Snowshoes allow us to walk on snow comfortably by distributing our weight over a larger area. Snowshoes have always been essential for people whose livelihoods require getting around in deep snow, but these days snowshoeing is also a popular recreational activity. No previous experience is required and it’s a blast for kids (ages 6+) and adults alike.

As we trek through the snow we’ll admire the silent forests, frozen rivers and high mountain peaks. It’s an enchanting experience and a great way to connect to nature in the winter.

Book now for a snowshoeing adventure in Sierra de Guadarrama National Park that will fill you with wonder.

This activity depends on snow and weather conditions in Madrid mountain area. For large groups, please inquire directly with me. No previous experience required. Standard fitness level. Custom snowshoe hikes in Madrid according to your fitness level, age, experience and preferences.

Temperatures can easily be -5°C, but it’s a dry cold. Temperatures rise dramatically when the sun comes out, and snowshoeing is quiet strenuous, so you need lightweight layers that you can add or take-off quickly. Cotton t-shirts will stay wet and cold on your body; thermal clothing is best (capilene, merino wool, Odlo, etc.).

As important as it is not to underdress for the weather, it’s also important not to overdress. Learn to listen to your body and anticipate your needs. Shed a layer BEFORE you start to overheat, and add a layer BEFORE you start to chill. And, always carry an extra layer of dry clothes and socks in your pack.

What to bring:

-Mountain/Hiking boots or aprés ski boots.

-Mountain wear/Sport wear (according to the winter season).

-Waterproof jacket (windproof/waterproof Gore Tex type).

-Warn hat and warm gloves. Headband/buff.

-Sun screen and lip balm.

-Sun hat.

-Sport Sunglasses or ski goggles.

-Mobile phone and camera, Passport/Identification document and personal belongings and medication in a plastic bag.

-1,5 L of water and snacks (sandwich, fruit, nuts, energy bars, etc…) per person. Thermo flask (hot tea/coffee).

What People are Saying about Ole Outdoor

My guide Luis was great! He was very informative and entertaining, and made sure that we walked at my pace. He was very knowledgeable about the area and told me a lot about it. I like his philosophy of \"leave the places you visit better than how you found them\" and his passion for hiking, camping, and the outdoors. We also went to El Escorial, which was impressive and fascinating. I really enjoyed my day up in the mountains with Luis and thank him for inspiring me to continue on this path of exploring our beautiful world. I would highly recommend Luis and your company for others looking for hiking or trekking opportunities.

Our guide was not Gabriel, but a subcontractor names Luis. He was great! (very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly) and should have gotten 5 stars except that he arrived late to pick us up, and he said he would send pictures but didn\'t. Our scramble at La Pedriza was awesome! Explore Share should maybe get 3 1/2 stars, I found their description of this adventure not accurate. It said we would climb La Pedriza and Penalara (not possible in one day) and no experience was necessary. A beginner hiker would find this challenging, would have to turn back before the real adventure begins, and be disappointed. Scrambling requires an intermediate fitness level. And the picture shown with the advertisement isn\'t what we saw, no jagged peaks, no helmets, no ropes. All things considered it was still a great experience!

Thank you Luis for a great trip to La Pedriza! We learnt a lot and thank you for bringing us hiking around the area even after we were done with the climbing :)
