Join me on this snowshoeing tour to explore the beautiful Sierra de Guadarrama National Park while trekking on recently fallen snow.

The park, while stunning year-round, becomes a winter wonderland from December to April. Snowshoes allow us to walk on snow comfortably by distributing our weight over a larger area. Snowshoes have always been essential for people whose livelihoods require getting around in deep snow, but these days snowshoeing is also a popular recreational activity. No previous experience is required and it’s a blast for kids (ages 6+) and adults alike.

As we trek through the snow we’ll admire the silent forests, frozen rivers and high mountain peaks. It’s an enchanting experience and a great way to connect to nature in the winter.

Snowshoeing tour lasts approximately 3-5 hours. Price includes: brief introduction course to snowshoeing, snowshoes and sticks, accident insurance and civil liability insurance, non-commercial transport in the guide´s vehicle and pick-up service at your hotel or accommodation in Madrid. NOT included: food and drinks, tips and gratuities. A picnic pack can be purchased for 15 euros (special diet options available). Winter mountain wear available for rental (hiking boots, warm gloves, warm hats and winter jackets).

This activity depends on snow and weather conditions in Madrid mountain area. For large groups, please inquire directly with me. No previous experience required. Standard fitness level. Custom snowshoe hikes in Madrid according to your fitness level, age, experience and preferences.

Temperatures can easily be -5°C, but it’s a dry cold. Temperatures rise dramatically when the sun comes out, and snowshoeing is quiet strenuous, so you need lightweight layers that you can add or take-off quickly. Cotton t-shirts will stay wet and cold on your body; thermal clothing is best (capilene, merino wool, Odlo, etc.). As important as it is not to underdress for the weather, it’s also important not to overdress. Learn to listen to your body and anticipate your needs. Shed a layer BEFORE you start to overheat, and add a layer BEFORE you start to chill. And, always carry an extra layer of dry clothes and socks in your pack.

What to bring: -Backpack. -Mountain/Hiking boots or aprés ski boots. -Mountain wear/Sport wear (according to the winter season). -Fleece. -Waterproof jacket (windproof/waterproof Gore Tex type). -Warn hat and warm gloves. Headband/buff. -Sun screen and lip balm. -Sun hat. -Sport Sunglasses or ski goggles. -Mobile phone and camera, Passport/Identification document and personal belongings and medication in a plastic bag. -1,5 L of water and snacks (sandwich, fruit, nuts, energy bars, etc…) per person. Thermo flask (hot tea/coffee).

The hike organised by Dreampeaks was great. Organisation was seamless, Gabriel picked us up at our hotel in Madrid and drove us to the start of the hike in the Sierra de Gredos. We had three guides with us (one pro, Hugo, and two trainees Magdalena and Jesus) who told us about the nature, mountains and animals. Our guides were super friendly and enjoyable to be around. The hike in itself is perfect for beginners or more advanced walkers and has a lot variety in terms of landscapes, rhythm and intensity. We did a hike over two days and slept in a shelter which was a unique experience. Once up at the mountain shelter, we enjoyed a glass of Spanish cider and played some board games. Although we didn’t pack all necessities, we could just borrow a backpack and sleeping bag from the organisation, which was really convenient. We strongly recommend to book your hike around Madrid with Dreampeaks!

Hector showed us an amazing time out in La Pedriza, and let us climb to our comfort levels. There was a good variety of difficulties in the climbs where we were at, too. The view of the city below was lovely, and Hector was very friendly the entire time.

Absolutely amazing experience horseback riding on a ranch about 1 hour from Madrid. The horses were incredibly well trained and the staff were able to provide very good technique pointers for both beginner and intermediate riders in multiple languages including English and Spanish. The ride was well catered to the abilities of the group. Gabriel was absolutely amazing in organizing the trip, picking us up and dropping us off in Madrid and catering to some last minute changes we had.
