Gorges de Daluis 4-hour guided trekking tour

I invite you to join me on a half-day balcony trek in the Gorges de Daluis, a spectacular 6-kilometer-long canyon in the Alpes-Maritimes department. It is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, in southeastern France.

The canyon is cut in red sandstone rock, by the River Var. This is a balcony walk on the way out and an “orchestra” hike on the return. This mineral circuit offers along the way a striking sight of the Gorges de Daluis and their walls of red rock dating back to the end of the Primary Era.

The highlight of this 4-hour trek is the spectacular panoramic viewpoint built in 1989 in the heart of the canyon. From that incredible spot, we can see the waters of the River Var about 270 meters below.

We will also see the openings of very old mining galleries that cut the cliffs of the left bank, a testimony of the exploitation of copper ore. The sumach groves, whose leaves were once used to make domestic dye, decorate the landscape in autumn with their warm red-orange colors.

This 4-hour trek has 500 meters of positive altitude gain, and 500 meters of negative altitude difference. It is a hike of intermediate difficulty level.
