Description

Come along this 2-day program up the south ridge of the famous Gimli peak (2,806 m), in the Valhalla provincial park. This is a great program in the Canadian Kootenay province district (British Columbia), on which you will discover one of the exceptional peaks in this area. A great program for climbers with an Intermediate level.

The south ridge of the Gimli peak is a one-of-a-kind rock climbing site. On this tour, I will guide you on this unique 8 pitch alpine rock climb, and across its steep cracks, chicken heads, grooves and fingery walls.

While the actual climb takes 1 full day – including the access and approach – this 2-day itinerary aims at providing less experienced climbers a more relaxed program. This is why the program will include camping over night. You can check out a 1-day version of this program (for Advanced climbers) here.

Have a look at the detailed itinerary below.

To come along on this program, you will need to have a some previous climbing experience of intermediate level. You will also need to be able to follow traditional crack climbs (5.10a), carrying a small pack.

Weather conditions in this area tend to be between 10°C and 28°C in the summer, during the day, dropping considerably at night.

The site is reachable by car via the Bannock creek forest road. It is located 1.5 hours north west of Nelson, or 3-hour drive south of Revelstoke.
