Heli-assisted ski touring from a geo dome in Wanaka (3 days)

Tucked in between Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea is some of the best off-piste skiing available on New Zealand’s South Island!

Join us for three amazing days of ski touring as we check out various scenic spots in the McKerrow Range. We will take a helicopter from the town of Wanaka out into the wilderness to the north in order to get some isolated slopes and a more backcountry feel to our trip.

Every run we will make is framed by gorgeous views out over the surrounding snow-capped peaks and deep blue lakes. Spending three days out here will allow us to check out various different parts of the range and give us access to various different types of runs.

At the end of each day, we will head back to our base camp at the Geo Dome camp, which allows us to enjoy the mountains in modest comfort and provides us with yet another unique perspective of this beautiful place.

Just don’t forget your sleeping bag!

Along with some excellent views from the helicopter and amazing skiing conditions, we will also go over some basic ski mountaineering and snowboard mountaineering techniques, which will help us see even more and give you the chance to pursue another excellent mountain activity another time.
