Highlights

  • Seeing the emblematic Almanzor Peak

  • Sleeping under the stars

  • Marveling at the diverse flora and fauna in the park

Only an couple hours from Madrid, Sierra de Gredos is the perfect place for an escape into the natural world. It boasts rugged granite formations, gorges, glacial lakes and the tallest mountain in Central Spain: Almanzor Peak. Sierra de Gredos is known for its diverse vegetation, mountain goats and dark skies which make it an optimal place for stargazing.

On this two-day hike through Sierra de Gredos Natural Park, we’ll enjoy everything that this extraordinary place has to offer. We’ll cross the beautiful glacial lakes of Laguna Grande and Five Lagoons. We’ll go through the Portilla del Rey pass at 2,383 meters. And at the end of a long day of hiking and after enjoying drinks and a hot meal, we’ll go to sleep in a bivouac (only with a sleeping bag and pad) under the starry skies. (There is also the option to sleep in a mountain hut for anyone who prefers that.)

This trip is challenging and participants must have a good level of physical fitness.  We will trek a total distance of 24 kilometers, with 1,770 meters of ascent and 1,235 meters of descent.

Don’t miss this opportunity to have an adventure and fall in love with Sierra de Gredos!

What People are Saying about Ole Outdoor

My guide Luis was great! He was very informative and entertaining, and made sure that we walked at my pace. He was very knowledgeable about the area and told me a lot about it. I like his philosophy of \"leave the places you visit better than how you found them\" and his passion for hiking, camping, and the outdoors. We also went to El Escorial, which was impressive and fascinating. I really enjoyed my day up in the mountains with Luis and thank him for inspiring me to continue on this path of exploring our beautiful world. I would highly recommend Luis and your company for others looking for hiking or trekking opportunities.

Our guide was not Gabriel, but a subcontractor names Luis. He was great! (very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly) and should have gotten 5 stars except that he arrived late to pick us up, and he said he would send pictures but didn\'t. Our scramble at La Pedriza was awesome! Explore Share should maybe get 3 1/2 stars, I found their description of this adventure not accurate. It said we would climb La Pedriza and Penalara (not possible in one day) and no experience was necessary. A beginner hiker would find this challenging, would have to turn back before the real adventure begins, and be disappointed. Scrambling requires an intermediate fitness level. And the picture shown with the advertisement isn\'t what we saw, no jagged peaks, no helmets, no ropes. All things considered it was still a great experience!

Thank you Luis for a great trip to La Pedriza! We learnt a lot and thank you for bringing us hiking around the area even after we were done with the climbing :)
