Join me on this spectacular hike in the Saja-Besaya Natural Park and explore the wonderful spots of this gorgeous park in Spain.
Situated in Cantabria, the Saja-Besaya Natural Park is located between the Saja and Besaya rivers and is the largest natural park in the region. It is famous for its beauty and great variety of flora and fauna. I invite you to discover them by joining this 1-day hike.
Our starting and ending point will be the small village of Ucieda, in Cantabria. Then, from there, we’ll start hiking along the beautiful Puentes de Ucieda route. On this path, we’ll go through gorgeous woods and lovely bridges over streams. Part of the flora we’ll find walking in this area are oak trees, beech forests, chestnut trees and birch trees.
Consider that we’ll cover a distance of 16 kilometers on a 5-hour hike, so it is important to have a good level of fitness.
So, do you find this hiking program attractive? Then send your request and we’ll start making all the arrangements for this magical adventure in Cantabria.
Alternatively, another option could be this 1-day hike in Collados del Asón Natural Park, also in Cantabria. Check it out!

AEGM-UIMLA Guide from Spain
I did my first steps as a mountaineer as a teenager in Madrid. But the desire to enjoy all the possibilities given by the mountains convinced me to move to Benasque valley, at the heart of the Pyrenees.
Along the years I did several winter and summer activities not only in the Pyrenees, but also in Picos de Europa, Sierra Nevada, Sistema Central...
One of my passions is to travel and discover new places and cultures, so I did climbing trips to other European countries, USA, Canada, Morocco, India, Nepal, Kirguistán... This trips gave me a priceless experience that made me grow as a climber, and set the stone to my formation as professional mountain guide.
I now live in Cantabria, and usually guide both in summer and winter in the Cantabrian range.

My guide, Fran, was top-notch. Super friendly and really knew his stuff. He was fantastic at tailoring our climb based on my expectations and what I could handle and - he nailed it. Also, he communicated in English really well. On the second day we chatted away like old friends. I had an awesome time and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a personalised climbing experience.
