This course is designed to give participants a hands-on introduction to ice climbing. Building solid ice climbing skills and confident climbers is the main focus.

What are you going to learn in this amazing ice climbing experience in Chamonix or Val de Cogne?
– Develop your skills on ice climbing : grade IV + V
– Difficult Dry-tooling climbing : grade M4, belaying, rope management
– Learn the fundamentals of lead climbing
– Efficient use of safety equipment on this terrain, including ice screws, nuts, ice axe etc
– Evaluate Ice and Snow conditions

Here is an example of program for this 2-day tour in Cogne:

DAY 1 – ARGENTIERE (GLACIER CREAMERY)
Meet at 9 am in Chamonix to get to know and verify the hardware. We then go right at the foot of the Argentiere glacier in Glacier Creamery. You will discover how to best use crampons and ice axes in lengths of ice between 70 ° and 75 ° to 30 m high. We also realize one ice fall 70 m. This is a great introduction to this Chamonix ice fall training

DAY 2 – VAL DE COGNE
Cogne> Lillaz gully: 220m, grade 4 ice and M4 + (M = mixed climbing, ice and rock)>
Meet at 7:00 in Chamonix. Today we will go in the valley of Cogne, link up the ice fall. It will take about 1:15 to reach the foot of the Ice fall. Great varied during its ascent with a beautiful atmosphere and stunning views of Mont Blanc route. Back in Chamonix in late afternoon and end of the ice fall course

This is one of my favorite activities in the mountains. I will be more than happy to be your guide and teach you the necessary technics and basics of ice climbing.

Please note that tailor made program can be organised based on your level, the timing and your wishes. Please get in touch with me and let’s discuss about it.
