Description

The Dolomite mountains are a beautiful range within the Alps of Italy. And the Val di Fassa area within them is equally stunning. On this trip, you will have the chance to go ice climbing on some of its amazing frozen waterfalls.

Located in the Northeast tip of Trentino, the Val di Fassa is a painting come to life. The peaceful, still surroundings contrast perfectly with the excitement of ice climbing.  And when you combine those feelings with incredible ice falls like Fontanazzo and Rio Pelous you can't go wrong.

The criteria for participation revolves around your own abilities. However, because there is such a wide variety of ice falls to climb, I can find something to suit you, whether an easy ice cliff for beginners or a multi-pitch icefall for experts.

So come and enjoy a full day of amazing ice climbing in the serene Val di Fassa. It would be my pleasure to guide you to the top of any one of the petrified waterfalls in the region. Please send me a request to book this trip if you are interested.

And if you would like to enjoy the Val di Fassa in the summer season, I can also guide you on this rock climbing expedition.

Mountain Guide

Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Patrick & Walter (German speaking), Paolo, Matteo and Davide.

If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

What people are saying about Renato & Guides' team

We were in contact with Renato before we booked the vacation. He was not polite when we asked about the cost and informations about the accomodations of our trip in the mountains. BUT Renato couldn’t be our guide at the and, so we had Bruno as our guide. Bruno was the best guide ever for our vacation! He was very polite, funny and kind. Thanks to him we had an amazing vacation!!

Our guide was Walter Del Frè and we would like use his name in our review. He was very kind, patient and knowledgeable about the mountains and even the plants. We would recommend him to anyone! HOWEVER the same cannot be said about the Explore-Share company. Their communication was not personal (auto replies most of the time) and communicating via WhatsApp felt unprofessional to me. The 2 major issues were a) at no stage were we issued with a formal receipt (even though we asked for one) and b) we kept getting messages to pay after we had done so. In both cases we wer told not to worry. Well, I did, and it eas an extremely stressful experience.

Great trip with a really experienced guide who is passionate about what he does. The team were responsive and helpful

Amazing tour with Paolo from Renato & Guides' team! Fantastic via ferratas, hikes on top of mountains and stays in refuges. 5 star my wife and I loved it! Thanks again!

Antonia

Patrick was very experienced and gave good guidance for our first via Ferrata experience. We would not have been able to reach the summits without his help! The hikes he recommended are also very enjoyable and beautiful where we are able to witness the landmarks of the Dolomites at good angles
