Description
Come with me on this 9-day climb to the top of the Mount Kazbek**, in Georgia.**
It will be an unforgettable trip in which you won’t only conquer the summit of the Kazbek. You will also discover an unknown but amazing country.
As you may know, Georgia is surrounded by the most impressive landscapes. To the north, you’ll find the main Caucasus Mountains. In the south and east, there is a sub-range of the main Caucasian chain. And as if it was not enough, the Black Sea watches in the west.
I am leading groups between 2 and 10 participants. As it is an easy and accessible mountain, you won’t need any prior technical knowledge.
The route will take us from Tbilisi to Stephansminda. We’ll spend the night at the Kazbek hut, an old meteorological station at 3700 meters of altitude, which is currently used as a mountain refuge. Besides that, it has electricity and water services as well as a nice bar that offers beer.
Please note that you need to sign up for this trip at least 90 days prior to the start of the expedition.

Itinerary
Day 1: Flight to Tiblisi – Stephantsminda
Meet at the airport and private transfer to the Stephansminda hotel (D).
Day 2: Stephantsminda – Meteo Hut
Start about 7 am with a private transfer to the Sameba Church at 2200 m. From this point we’ll start the walk to the 3650-meter hut. It will take us about 7 walking hours. We can spend the night at the hut or in tents (B,L,D).
Day 3: Hut - Acclimatization day at 4200 m
Acclimatization day and walk up to 4000 or 4200 meters of height, depending on the weather. During this time we will practice some necessary skills to climb to the summit. Night in the hut or tents (B,L,D)
Day 4: Hut - Kazbek Summit
Summit day! We must start the ascent at 2 AM and walk to Plato, at 4500 m. From Plato to Saddle (4900 m) across some 40º and 45º slopes. From Saddle directly to the summit using ice axes and fixed ropes. Return to the Meteorological Station (hut). Overnight stay at the hut or in tents (B,L,D).
Day 5: Reserve day
Extra day in case of bad weather. If we reach the summit at the first attempt, this day will be used for going back to Stephansminda. Overnight stay in the hotel (B,L,D).
Day 6: Return to Tbilisi
Transfer to Tbilisi and return to Sameba Church by private transport. You will spend the night in a hotel of the city (B).
Day 7: Tbilisi - Airport
Transfer to the airport and flight to home. End of the program (B).
