This is a course of only two days that takes place in Kleinwalsertal, Austria, during which I will teach you the basics of ski touring and avalanche rescue.
The program is not only aimed at beginner skiers but also all mountaineers aware of the risks involved in the mountains who want to refresh their current knowledge. It is a good way to start the winter season well prepared!
During this 2-day course you will learn the following concepts:
Interpretation of an avalanche situation and its scale of danger
Basics of avalanche risk management
Identification of climatic factors
Evaluation of the slopes, their exposure and risks
Rescue exercises with a partner
Snow type evaluation
Use of different mountain devices
Safe ski tour planning
The mountains of this Austrian region are ideal to put into practice all the knowledge acquired in the course. We will spend the night in a hotel in Kleinwalsertal so we can go back to the mountains the next day and keep learning.
Participants must be physically prepared to climb up to 3 hours and walk for approximately 5 hours each day. Sometimes we may need to use climbing skins. Although this course has a fixed departing date, I also can organize courses on the date you wish.
Please send your request and book your place. I’ll be happy to be your instructor on this enriching experience in Austria!
If you’re looking for a more exhaustive course I am leading a 4-day learning trip also in Kleinwalsertal, check it out!

Hi, my name is Juho, a mountain guide originally from Finland. I started to guide when I came to Chile end of 2006. I was a living and working in Chile while I took UIAGM guiding cources in Argentina until 2011. Nowadays I am living on the shore of Lake of Constanz on Swiss-German border. ...and guiding from here in the Alps, Northern Scandinavia and in the Andes. I have also a small guiding company in Konstanz.

Great week in Arnoya. The relationship with the group and with the guide, Juho, has been perfect. An incredible experience that I'll be willing to repeat
Guide was awesome. Great terrain selection, finding good snow and overall trip organization. Would definitely go with him in the future.
