Lomnický peak is one of the most beautiful peaks in the High Tatras (Slovakia) and therefore, one of the most visited spots by tourists and mountain climbers. The main reason for this is the spectacular view from its summit.
This peak has a wide range of climbing routes. However, you can also reach the top by taking a cable car, in an 8.5 minute ride.
The starting point of our trip will be Tatranská Lomnica, a skiing and hiking resort at 900 m. A cable car will take us from the station in Tatranská Lomnica to Lomnické sedlo / Lomnické saddle (at 2196 m). Here, we’ll begin our hike.
Personally, I prefer to climb this peak through an old historical route called Emericyho nárek. This route was originally used in 1930´s. It was created to bring the building material for the construction of the cable car station and the observatory at Lomnický peak up. This will be an intermediate level ascent with breathtaking views.
We will descend through a chimney, a classical route protected by the chains, following to the edge and ending up in the Lomnické saddle. This mountain circuit can take up to 6 hours during summer.
Even though you can climb Lomnický peak in any time of the year, you should be aware that an ascent during the winter season is more difficult and requires more experience, skills and a good physical condition.
Please contact me if you want to join me for this climbing trip in Slovakia! It will be a pleasure for me to guide you in the mountains where I’ve been working for the last 25 years.

Mountain Guide
I’m an IFMGA mountain guide born in west Slovakia, in 1973. Nowadays I live in Poprad, a city 10 km away from the High Tatras, the mountains where I’ve been working for 25 years.
I came to High Tatras when I was student, in the summer of 1991. I started to work as a mountain carrier-sherpa in the chalet Rysy. I was also a professional member of the mountain rescue service.
In 2011, I finished my mountain education in Chamonix and became an international mountain guide. I also worked as a cave rescuer in Slovakia.
During winter, I enjoy ski-mountaineering, freeride, ice climbing and ascending different peaks. On the summer season, I practice mountain climbing, hiking, mountain bike, rock climbing, guiding and a lot of other sports.
Besides traveling with clients, I sometimes go to the mountain alone or with my friends and son.
I offer courses for avalanche education, ski-mountaineering, rock and ice climbing. I also organize special team-building activities for clients and I’m used to working with young people and children.

Overall it's a good trip since I made it to the peak. ;-) The only thing not feeling very well during the hiking/climbing is the time pressure (due to the schedule of the mountain taxi), so sometimes it felt a bit too pushy or stressed. The guide is very experience mountain guide and rescuer, and that's why he could be a bit bossy sometimes. But in the end I still appreciate all his effort and help and patience to make us a successful and safe trip. :-)
