Type of Trip
This 6-day Mont Blanc snowshoeing tour will take you through the Tour du Mont Blanc, which is known as one of the most famous and beautiful long distance treks in the world.
The hike goes around the Mont Blanc and through 3 countries: Italy, Switzerland and France. Although this trip is usually a trek you do during the summer, I have developed a unique itinerary to enjoy the breathtaking sceneries around the Mont Blanc in the winter.
Instead of going from refuge to refuge like in the summer, we’ll stay in comfortable hotels and bed & breakfasts from where we’ll start our snowshoeing adventures every day.
Within our six day round trip we will spend two incredible snowshoe days in each country (Italy, France and Switzerland)! I have selected the best snowshoe trails around the Mont Blanc massif!
The tour is suitable for everyone with a reasonable fitness to complete a six day itinerary. We’ll snowshoe between 4 to 7 hours a day. It is not necessary to have previous snowshoeing experience as it is easy to learn and great fun!
Are you planning to come to the Alps next winter ? Send me a request and we’ll go on this 6-day Mont Blanc snowshoeing tour.
And if you want to try a different snowshoeing tour, please check my Hut to hut snowshoeing tours in the Swiss Alps.

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?
If you decide to cancel, you’ll get a 100% refund (minus fees) if the cancellation is notified up to 60 days before the start of the tour, a 75% refund (minus fees) if you cancel between 59 and 30 days before the start of the tour, and a 50% refund if you cancel between 29 and 21 days before the start of the tour. If you cancel less than 21 days before the first day of the tour, you won’t receive a refund. Take into account, however, that if accommodation, flights or transfers were included in the trip you booked, then a different policy may apply as the guide will be bound by the provider’s cancellation policy.
What happens if the guide cancels the trip because of bad weather/unsuitable conditions?
If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, he or she will: a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better, or b) propose to postpone the activity until a later date, or c) cancel. If you refuse option a), our cancellation policy will apply. Please note, however, that the call to cancel a trip due to bad weather can only be made by the guide (not the client).
What happens if the guide doesn’t show up or cancels for personal reasons?
If the guide cancels for reason of injury or other, you will get a 100% refund on your trip.
Transfer and first hike
Early transfer from Chamonix to Courmayeur through the Tunnel du Mont Blanc. On our first day we will hike through the Italian Val Veny up to the Elisabetha Soldini refuge. Although the hut is closed during the winter your guide will surprise you with some hot drinks in the winter room. We will spend the night in Courmayeur.
Hike to Grand Saint Bernhard
From Courmayeur we drive through Aosta up towards the Grand Col Saint Bernard, a historical mountain pass leading to Switzerland. We will walk up to the monastery of the Grand Saint Bernhard. It became famous because of the Saint Bernhard dogs and it was an important stage for catholic pilgrims. We will drive to Champex a beautiful Swiss village next to a lake.
Hike through Valley of Arpette
Today we leave the village of Champex with our snowshoes and we will walk through the Valley of Arpette up to a small mountain community consisting of a few houses. We will spend the night in Martigny. If there is time we can visit the Saint Bernard dogs museum.
Hike to Bovine
We drive up the steep mountain pass to the Col de la Forclaz. Surrounded by great views over the Swiss and the French valleys we hike up to the top of Bovine. We spend the night in the charming ski village Vallorcine just after the French-Swiss border.
From Vallorcine there are numerous options for snowshoeing. One of our favorites is the Chalet de Loriaz or the Valley de Bérard on the side oft the famous Aiguilles Rouges massif. We will return to Chamonix by car. In the evening we will prepare a traditional fondue in our igloo for you!
Hike to the first part of Mont Blanc
On our last day of our Tour du Mont Blanc snowshoe trek we can do a part of the first ascent route of the Mont Blanc. We can enjoy lunch at the Buvette de Glacier and nearly touch the impressive Bosson glacier.
