Once the winter blanket of snow has gone the High Atlas which includes Mt Toubkal and Mgoun, becomes one of the premier summer trekking destinations outside of the European Alps.
On this 3-day Mount Toubkal trek from Marrakech we'll explore the dramatic landscapes of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains and hike through traditional Berber villages, scenic valleys and rugged mountain terrain as we make our way toward the highest peak in North Africa.
Discover some of the region’s most iconic places, including Imlil Valley, the Toubkal Massif and the Sidi Chamharouch shrine, before reaching the summit of Jebel Toubkal. From the top, enjoy sweeping views across the High Atlas before descending back toward Imlil.

Meeting point
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech and driven for approximately 1.5 hours to Imlil Valley (1,740 m), the starting point of your Mount Toubkal trek.
On arrival, you will meet the local team, including your English-speaking guide and mule drivers. After a welcome mint tea at a guesthouse, your guide will explain the route before you begin hiking toward the Toubkal base camp.
After around 2 hours of walking, you will stop for lunch near the Sidi Chamharouch shrine. In the afternoon, continue uphill to the mountain refuge, where you will spend the night.
Walking time: approximately 5–6 hours Overnight: Mountain refuge
After an early breakfast at the refuge, you will begin your ascent of Mount Toubkal. The climb follows steep, rocky and scree-covered terrain and usually takes around 3 hours to reach the summit.
From the top, enjoy panoramic views across the High Atlas Mountains and the surrounding valleys. After a short break, descend along the same route back to the refuge.
You will have lunch and time to relax at the base camp before spending a second night at the refuge.
Walking time: approximately 6–7 hours Overnight: Mountain refuge
After breakfast, you will leave the refuge and descend along the same trail back to Imlil Valley.
Once in Imlil, enjoy lunch at a local guesthouse before your transfer back to Marrakech, where the trip ends with drop-off at your accommodation.

Please bring comfortable, casual athletic clothing, hiking shoes, a hat, and a warm jacket.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
