Mountain Guide

Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Patrick & Walter (German speaking), Paolo, Matteo and Davide.

If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

We enjoyed our tour of the Dolomites so much, it was beautiful and very fun. We wish the preparation guidance for the trip had been shared earlier, as we weren’t sure what to bring and packed too much. We also had very little details about how extensive the hiking would be, so we weren’t as prepared as we would’ve liked to be. We would’ve liked to have a more leisurely pace to allow for breaks and more photos.

Paulo was a great guide who made the via ferrata trip a great experience for us all. Highly recommend asking for Paulo for anyone wanting to use their services

Cannot emphasize enough how great of an experience we had with this explore-share and our via ferrata trip. Company was very communicative, which was extremely reassuring leading up to the trip. Through the explore-share, we were connected with a local guide named Fabio, who was one of the best guides I have ever had. Fabio was proactive with understanding our fitness and goals for the trip, and also went above and beyond during our trip actively tailoring our route to make sure we had the best experience possible. Easily 5/5 stars, would love to experience another via ferrata again and would absolutely love to use Fabio as a guide again.

Robert was a knowledgeable and experienced guide. But he could have been more helpful as we prepared and in explaining our options throughout. For example we asked how to get to the trail head since we didn't have a car and were told we need to take a taxi from bolzano with no other info. We found out after arriving in bolzano (from the place we were staying) that a taxi would be extremely expensive and that a bus could take us most of the way.

We had a fantastic time with Fabio. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and focused on giving us a fun and safe day. It was the experience of a lifetime. Would definitely recommend to others!
