Ride in Sapporo for a day with FWQ snowboarder Yumiko Ohta

Sapporo is a magnificent location as it holds some of the best ski resorts in Japan. Join me on this snowboarding day trip to explore this winter wonderland.

I am a Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) athlete, ranked 47th in the world and 4th in Japan. Hence, I’m in a constant pursuit of the best snowboarding conditions and skiing resorts. And I found some of the best in Sapporo.

One of the main reasons I love Sapporo is that it’s home of fantastic ski resorts such as the Sapporo Teine Ski Resorts, Moiwayama, Bankei, Kokusai and Takino Suzuran Hillside Park Snow World. So the options here are endless.

Sapporo Teine is one of my favorite spots. It is an amazing smaller resort in the Hokkaido Prefecture. And it is very accessible, as it’s located only 20 kilometers outside the city of Sapporo. Also, it has amazing weather conditions, catering steep and deep powder lines. As well as some of the most amazing descents. What’s more there are two different areas here: Highland and Olympia. So even within Sapporo Teine, we’ll find different options for our snowboarding trips. This place is so amazing it hosted the 1972 Sapporo Olympic Games. Hence, we’ll be riding along some of the spots olympians used.

Please note I’m not a mountain or tour guide, nor a ski instructor. Therefore, we’ll remain within the ski resort at all times. My main focus will be to enjoy time together in Sapporo, as we ride together through its best slopes.
