Description

Join me on this 1+ day adventure of rock climbing and I guarantee you will bear witness to some of the most gorgeous and magnificent scenery in Mexico, as we climb up and down the beautiful basalt cliffs that dot the area in abundance, with mesmerizing waterfalls flowing down to the valley below.

The colonial town of Aculco, located approximately 130km North of Mexico City, has a long and distinguished history dating back to around 1110 AD, when it was founded by the Otomies. The Spanish arrived in 1540, which is where the majority of its marvelous and pretty architecture comes from, and it is increasingly becoming well-known for its offering of outdoor activities and its cheese and milk industry.

We meet in the morning in Mexico City, where we will then drive to Aculco itself. From there it is a short walk to the rock climbing locations, located in the gullies that lead to the river.

Once there we begin rock climbing in earnest, with a heavy emphasis on the technique of crack climbing, and there are several bends within the canyon, ensuring a variety of climbing, such as in the shade or sun.

The basalt surfaces here are very smooth on the skin, despite its hard exterior, and this means that the climbs we do will be more pleasant feeling that on traditional cliff surfaces.

There are plenty of things to see and do in the town of Aculco when not rock climbing, and there will be ample time to explore.

We finish the day having climbed to our hearts content in one of the more spectacular places to indulge in rock climbing in Mexico, hopefully having made you fall in love with the area a little bit more.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
