Description

This day of rock climbing in Guadalcazar, near San Luis de Potosi, promises to blow you away with the raw natural beauty of the landscape, scenery and terrain of the area, and I will guide you to the magnificent Candelas’ cave, a spot providing excellent and ideal conditions for challenging and rewarding rock climbing.

Guadalcazar is a municipality located in the Northeast of Mexico, and 80km from the state of San Luis de Potosi. The region is increasingly becoming a tourist destination due to its pretty Spanish colonial architecture, as well as outdoor activities like rock climbing, and the long-dormant mining industry has also started up again.

We meet in San Luid de Potosi, and from there we drive to Guadalcazar.

We then walk through the state reserve of Guadalcazar near the end of the Chihuahuan desert, and reach our rock climbing location of Candelas’ cave. Here we will have most of the day to rock climb on the wide array of interesting and different areas, including Gruta de Candelas, San Cayetano, Zelda and Salitre.

The caves themselves have formed over the course of thousands of years, and provide a challenging assignment for you to improve and learn new rock climbing techniques.

After we finish rock climbing, we head back to Guadalcazar via an ancient trail once trodden by horsemen and carts when the mines were at their peak many years ago.

We finish the day back in San Luis de Potosi, weary and content at having climbed such an esteemed and glorious area.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
