Peña de Bernal is a mandatory ascent for those who are truly passionate about rock climbing. This magical place is not only one of the best rock climbing destinations in Mexico, it is also famous for its breathtaking surroundings. This 2,510 meters high magnificent rock lies in the town of Bernal, which was designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. So what better way to get the best views of this beautiful town, than from the summit of Peña de Bernal?
This magnificent ten-million-year-old rock is the third largest monolith on Earth. And it guards mysteries and legends, also known as one of the most energetic places in the world.
Even though the ascent is not too complicated, there are still many multi-pitch routes that will definitely challenge us. And as we get closer to the summit, we’ll enjoy the best views of the Sierra Gorda, and its semi-desert sceneries.
Upon completion, and after taking in the hypnotizing views from the top, we will tackle a corner of Peña de Bernal, rappelling down it.
Some of the activities the program includes are:
A 30 minute hike to the base
Sport climbing (around 180 meters of climbing, depending on the route)
Rappelling of 60 meters to the base.
Rappelling of 30 metros to the chapel.
A 30 min hike down to the office.
Please note that since we will include multi-pitch rock climbing routes, participants need to have previous knowledge. If you do, and wish to join this program, just send us a request.
