Description

I will guide you for 13 epic days to the Gokyo Valley in the Everest region, the second most popular spot in the area after Everest base camp, and a place that makes jaws drop due to its sumptuous and magnificent raw natural scenery of lakes, glaciers, rivers and mountains, with the added bonus of fewer crowds than the base camp.

The Gokyo Valley is located in close proximity to Mt. Everest, in the Himalayan mountain range, and is renowned for its beautiful natural scenery of vividly coloured lakes and lagoons, as well as majestic deep gorges and lovely alpine valleys.

We meet in the city of Kathmandu on day 1, where all relevant safety and general information will be dispensed, and after spending a couple of days in the city and its surrounding valleys, we then catch a flight to Lukla, where the trekking begins.

After 2 days trekking to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), we then relax on an in-built rest day, in preparation for 7 straight days of trekking.

Over the course of days 6-9 we will be incrementally be trekking up to higher altitude, with highlights along the way including Dole (4,190m), an area featuring forest containing a wide variety of flora, and Machhermo (4,470m), an old and beautiful village.

Days 8 and 9 are devoted to the focal point of the trip, the Gokyo Valley, with the glaciers, lakes and lagoons surrounded by sweeping panoramic views of the nearby mountains (including Mt. Everest), making for a highly memorable setting.

There is also a trip to the highest point of the journey, the Gokyo Ri peak (5,357m), with yet more amazing views to take in and admire.

The final 4 days are then spent heading back down to Lukla and then onwards to Kathmandu, where we say our goodbyes having experienced a truly special and exquisite part of the world.
