Iceland is surrounded by large fjords that cut the country, especially in its northwestern extremity. These fjords are ancient glacial valleys.
Only a few countries in the world have this wonderful natural environment.
Besides, these lands are particularly suitable to practice back-country skiing in all its forms. And that's what I'm inviting you to do.
Our starting point will be the town of Isafjordur, the largest city in the region, in the bottom of its fjord between towering mountains.
This ski touring trip is also a sea navigation, moving from fjord to fjord according to the snow conditions and the visitor's wishes, with no program designed previously.
We'll be doing daily sailings of less than 3 hours in a boat called 'La Louise'. It's a schooner of 19 meters with 9 passenger seats besides crew and supervision.
The program you can find below is only an indication. The outputs are daily (subject to weather conditions) and have no binding character, everyone is free to participate or not.
For more information about this ski touring in the fjords of Iceland, please contact me. I'm an IFMGA mountain guide and will be happy to show this beautiful place.
I also enjoy ski touring in other countries. You can check a trip I organice in Lapland, Sweaden.
