In the Aigüestortes National Park, at the Spanish side of the Pyrennes, there is Les Encantats, a wild and preserved massif. We will enjoy these “enchanted mountains”, perfect for ski itineraries, and spend the nights in different guarded huts.
At this time of the year, the snow is still consistent at medium altitude. Plus, you will improve your avalanche rescue skills.
We will meet at the French side to co-drive until departure. The itinerary is a 6-day loop that includes the ascent of several summits at about 2800 meters high (Montardo, Portero Peak and the Grand Tuc of Colomers) and Punta Alta (3015 meters high). Several summit ascents are optional, depending on your physical shape as well as the snow conditions.
The first day we will climb the Pont de Ressec (1390 meters) and have an avalanche victim search exercise. We will sleep at the refuge. From there, we will spend the night successively in the Restanca, Ventosa, Estany Long, Amitges and Colomers refuges.
Some passages, downhill as uphill, can be up to 40° steep. I will use a small strand of rope to ensure you on the most difficult ones. But do not worry! Nothing too extreme… This ski tour is a dream for good off-piste skiers who have some practice in ski touring.
Interested in a week skiing off the beaten path in Les Encantats? Then don’t hesitate to book this trip, I would love to be your guide!
