Description

The Vercors Massif belongs to the Alps and is in the Auvergne region of France, near Grenoble. Due to its great amount of snow, it’s the perfect area to enjoy snowshoeing. Join me on this 4-day adventure and explore this fantastic place with your snowshoes on!

On this program, you’ll discover a very interesting spot from different perspectives. Vercors Massif offers an amazing winter landscape where we’ll get to see part of the local flora and fauna. Additionally, I’ll tell you about the massif’s geology and we’ll follow the footprints of the animals. Apart from its natural attractions, this area has historical importance for being one of the spots where the French resistance gathered. Furthermore, after snowshoeing, we’ll try some of the delicious local meals and products.

As for the itinerary, on day 1, we’ll reach Vassieux-en-Vercors from Switzerland. Then, on day 2, we’ll explore Les Hauts Plateaux or Font d’Urle, according to weather. Day 3 will be the day of Vassieux and its beautiful landscapes. Finally, on day 4, we’ll go to Pic Saint Michel and return to Switzerland.

Please, take into account that the program is aimed at intermediate participants with prior snowshoeing experience. However, we’ll adapt the itinerary according to the group’s level. Also, consider that you can either join a group in the date detailed below or you can book a private tour with flexible dates.

So does this experience in the Vercors Massif sound interesting to you? Then don’t miss this opportunity and send the request to book your place. You won’t regret your choice!

Another option could be this hiking program that I lead across the Queyras Regional Natural Park, also in France. Check it out!

Mountain Leader

Setting off on an adventure on a whim, without a precise plan, walking according to desires and emotions, pushing further to discover what a summit or a ridge reveals. Trained as a business lawyer, then manager of a large sports store, biathlete and trail runner, it was my job as a guide that ultimately allowed me to establish a more structured and secure framework for my wanderings, but without ever losing my wonder and my curiosity. It is with this state of mind that today I like to travel and share the mountains here and elsewhere, preferably roaming, in order to give us time to soak up the landscapes which evolve over time, days and seasons.

I will always be happy to set off on the classic tours, but above all I strive to guide you off the beaten paths.

What people are saying about -Sarah

Stephen

Frankly, Sarah Kleinknecht is what you dream of having when picking a guide and it is my pleasure to provide a review. My 76 year old mother and I recently went on a 5 day trek through the Alps and it was nothing short of perfect. Sarah is able to perfectly speak 3 different languages however I would argue that her ability to communicate the needs of her clients is her most fluent form of expression. She was easily able to adjust daily excursions depending on weather/ability and planned a life changing adventure. My mother, who as stated is 76, had a perfectly planned course of hikes/trails with challenging yet achievable objectives. Even more so, Sarah is low key a celebrity within the Alps having worked there over 20 years and knew everyone! We were warmly greeted like old friends everywhere we went. She is a positive yet stern guide who keeps safety first yet is always able to provide a laugh. Without a doubt, I would highly recommended Sarah!
