This snowshoeing trip in Lyngenfjord is truly unique! This peaceful region covered in snow year-round offers the best snowshoe treks under the midnight sun of Norway. Come next February and enjoy with me this magnificent place!
Surrounded by blue glaciers and snow-covered peaks, Lyngenfjord has a combination of outdoor activities you can choose from, such as snowshoeing through the forest, visiting the Arctic Islands or taking photographs of the beautiful northern lights. I can assure you these landscapes will take your breath away!
The snowshoeing activity I am proposing will take between 4 and 6 hours and you don’t need to have any previous experience or alpine skills to enjoy them! So whether your skill level is beginner, intermediate or advanced, this experience is right for you.
As for the temperature at this time of the year, it can go under -2 degrees and the wind can be quite uncomfortable. However, our exclusive offer of accommodation in chalets will bring you the warmth and comfort you need to recover at the end of the day. We offer the nicest accommodation next to the sea with a great view of the mountains. Our comfortable chalet is well prepared: expect many cozy moments by the fireplace. Breakfast and dinner are also included and cooked by our amazing chef Ulrica. It is the perfect place to relax before and after our snowshoeing adventures!

We flight from Switzerland to Tromso in northern Norway and we will head to the Lyngenfjord with a rental car. We will check in in our chalet, which is equipped with a kitchen, three bedrooms, two showers, WC and a small sauna.
We can reach the forest region in Rotsund Dalen. There we can spend some time admiring this amazing place while we snowshoe among those tall trees. If we are lucky, we will get to see an elk!, one of the largest species within the deer family.
There are also amazing islands in the Arctic Ocean that you can’t miss. During this activity in Arnoya or Kagen island you can take your first steps snowshoeing where the mountains meet the ocean. There you will have the best view of Norway Fjords.
Last but not least, during the evening we can enjoy the first northern lights shining over our heads. It is the perfect opportunity to take some pictures of this stunning natural phenomenon.
We drive to Tromso and fly back to Switzerland, where we all say goodbye to each other, until we meet again for some other adventure!

I became a professional mountain guide after discovering that mountains and wild nature meant the life to me. In 1983 I completed my studies and started an amazing journey. I have been constantly on the road ever since, up in the Alps and on mountains and trekking areas on every continent.
Before I started taking guests on tours, my wife Ulrica was my climbing partner. Together, we spent many autumns in the Klausenpass climbing walls. After our daughter Heidi was born, she started coming along on our tours around the world. Later, our son Thomas and daughter Christina would join us. Even later, our granddaugther Jana came into our lives. All three of our children have become mountaineers as well. I am proud to say that world-strolling is in their blood too.
Having led groups in the Alps and other parts of the world for a long time, I witnessed how the alpine mountain landscape changed over the years. When I started off, we had to cook in the huts for ourselves. We now see suites, whirpools and saunas. Technical difficulties up in the mountain are mitigated with chains and wire ropes - a new way to live the mountain in a time-saving manner. Climbing routes that were inaccessible before have now been made open for the general public.
My heart lives for having more and more original natural experiences. This is the kind of experiences that have made us addicted to the mountain. I continue to strive for taking my guests off the beaten and better-known tracks. This is my commitment to you. I hope you can join me soon!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
