Description
Are you in love with the great outdoors? Do you want to fully enjoy running, without pressure or a stopwatch? Do you want to feel free in an unspoilt natural environment? Then this trail running traverse in the Jura is perfect for you!
During this trip we will cross the French section of the Haut Jura chain, from Bellegarde s/ Valserine to Morez. In order to make this trip light and autonomous, I planned sleeping in guarded accommodations and avoiding car transfers. Indeed, at the end of the trip we return by train, and voilà!
In total, we will cover more than 90km, with a total altitude change of +4100m / -3700m.

Itinerary
Day 1: Bellegarde station - Ratou refuge
We meet at 10AM in the Bellegarde s/ Valserine railway station. From there our itinerary for the day is: Gd Crêt d’Eau- Gralet refuge – Reculet – Crêt de la Neige – Ratou refuge.
It’s the most aerial day.
Optional: meeting at Saint Claude and taking the 6:34AM train, to avoid getting back to our cars late at the end of the journey.

Altitude change +1921m / -855m
Day 2: Ratou refuge - Bois d'Amont
Today is the longest stage, almost a marathon! We take the following route: Ratou refuge – Colomby de Gex – Faucille pass – La Dôle – Givrine pass – Le Noirmont – Bois D’Amont.
Distance: 42.259km
Min altitude 1096m / Max altitude 1664m
Altitude change +1665m / -2004m
Day 3: Risoux crossing and descent to Morez station
Today the itinerary is: Bois D’Amont – Chailet Gaillard- Bellefontaine – Crête des Commères – Morbiez – Morez. Then we return by train to Bellegarde or Saint Claude.
Distance: 19.966km
