Description

Mountaineering is an amazing activity. However, it is important that you learn how to properly, and safely, enjoy mountaineering in order to get the most out of it. And on this full day crevasse rescue course we will teach you how to do that.

The course begins at 7 am and ends at 3 pm. It will start with a demonstration of proper belaying as well as rope tension between climbers. This will take place as we ascend to a simulated crevasse area.

At the crevasse area, you will be taught how to read glacial terrain and how to use snow pickets, snow flukes, hitches, pulley systems, bollards and dead man anchors. You will then put what you’ve learned into practice by building a 3:1 system and learning how to escape a belay and simulate raising or lowering an injured climber.

All of what you will learn during this course is crucial in not only crevasse rescue, but in any precarious situations you may encounter during future mountaineering expeditions.

Since this is a preparation course, you don’t have to be a mountaineering expert to participate. However, you should have some previous snow mountaineering experience. You should also be in good physical condition.

Do you want to learn some very important mountaineering skills? Then this crevasse rescue course just outside of Salt Lake City in Utah is for you. All you have to do to be a part of it is send me a request.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TRIP IS ONLY PROPOSED ON THE DATES LISTED BELOW.

I also lead a backcountry ski touring clinic in the same area. If you’re interested in taking part, you can join me here.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
