Wapta Traverse: 5-day Hut-to-Hut Skiing in the Canadian Rockies

Join me for this challenging but rewarding 5-day ski touring expedition as we move from hut to hut through the remote wilderness of the Canadian Rockies.

We begin our adventure from Bow Lake where we begin skiing uphill into the mountains. After five hours, we will arrive at our first mountain hut and decide how we want to spend the next day.

There are plenty of mountains all around this region and we may chose any one of them to ascend. The views from all of them are absolutely spectacular and the treks to the top will be met with stunning vistas of pristine snow and mountains.

We will then continue on our route, going from hut to hut until we reach the highway. Plenty of time is built in to our itinerary to allow for diversions, climbing peaks and making great runs through untouched, perfect powder.

At the end of each day we will stay in a different mountain hut. They are quite basic and small, but cozy. Due to the size, they will keep us warm despite the lack of a wood stove.
