1 day wild nature hike in Mercantour National Park

Let me guide you through one of the most beautiful national parks in France during this 1 day excursion! 

Mercantour National Park, located in the South of France, is popular with visitors who come to see its stark landscapes, rare flowering plants, and abundant wildlife.  The park is also renown for being the site of petroglyphs from the Bronze Age, etched into stone.  The park is spread across the mountains and valleys of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, subranges of the European Alps.

Our hike will take us on a 9 hour loop trail around the park.  We will be able to appreciate the varied landscapes of the park, from the stark grays of mountain and scree, to the bright hues of flowering alpine fields.  We will have abundant opportunities to see the wildlife present in the park, including ibex, mouflon, and chamois.

This trip is open to participants who have reasonable fitness to complete a 9 hour hike. The route includes several sections of scree, and water crossings which will be done by rocks.  There is a section with a steep descent, but nothing too vertical.  The total change in elevation for this hike is 800m.

Additionally, kids may participate with prior consent, so if you have an active kid who loves hiking this could be a wonderful opportunity for you to spend some time together outdoors!
