On this amazing 8-day backcountry adventure in Georgia, you will enjoy a full immersion in the Caucasus pow. We will stay in the wild, with direct access to forest and alpine areas that will allow us to fully enjoy ski touring and freeriding in the area.
The tour begins from Tbilisi or Kutaisi, depending on your flight. From there, you will be picked up and transferred to the beautiful town of Oni, in Racha. A short drive and a 2-hour ski tour will lead us finally to the amazing base camp from where we will ski each day. This base camp is warmed with wood stoves and boasts a comforting banya (sauna) and a hot bath. It's fully equipped with bed linen, a dining area, and has electricity and wifi. But the best thing about it is the direct access it will give us to the backcountry, where we will spend our days skiing from dusk til dawn, before returning to rest and recover.
All the logistics are taken care of in this tour, and there are several group date options for you to join. Keep in mind that you will need some prior backcountry experience and a good fitness level, we take care of the rest. Find a detailed outline of the itinerary below.

Car transfer from Tbilisi/Kutaisi to Oni (a town in Racha).
From Tbilisi, it takes about 7 hours, and 3 hours from Kutaisi.
When we arrive, we will check into the guesthouse and relax.
Short car transfer and 2-hour ski tour to the base camp. The gear will be taken by snowmobile.
We will enjoy long days out in the snow, ski touring, and freeriding until the sun goes down. Then, we will return to the base camp, warm up in the sauna, relax and share stories.
We will pack all of our gear in advance, enjoy freeriding until 3 pm and then return to our guesthouse in Oni.
Accommodation The first and last night of the tour, we will stay in a cozy, family-run guesthouse in a town called Oni. We will stay in twin rooms with amenities and enjoy three homecooked traditional Georgian meals each day.
In the mountains, we will stay in a tent basecamp with a shared heated module for rest activities and dining. It includes heated and fully-furnished twin bed modules including bed linen and duvets for guests and a woodshed sauna with a hot shower. The camp has electricity and wifi. You will also enjoy full board catering: breakfast—buffet, lunch—starters and warm soups, dinner—starters and warm meals (Georgian and European cuisine). To get to our camp, we will need to hike for 2 hours, a snowmobile will take all of our belongings. From the base camp we will have access to 4 forest and 6 alpine areas with vertical drops of up to 1,400 meters!
Note. If you have any food allergies or specific preferences, please let us know in advance. |
Meeting point Tbilisi or Kutaisi, we will arrange a private car transfer to either city, depending where your flight arrives in. |
Other gear: You will need to pack for five backcountry days and also have spare warm clothes to wear in the basecamp. Bring extra shoes such as Crocs or flip-flops for the sauna, and high warm boots to walk around camp. You will also need a headlamp and personal hygiene products. The outside temperature at the Basecamp is very low, especially at night. A single batch of wood keeps the stove running between 3 to 6 hours. Although bed linen in included, we suggest you bring a personal sleeping bag (comfort rate around 0°C (32°F)) if you are a warm sleeper or don't want to wake up to rekindle the stove during the night.
