Bulgaria is quickly becoming a popular outdoor activity haven for adventure-seekers. The Pirin Mountains are scenic and full of opportunities for hikers and skiers alike. When you are not out exploring the wilderness around Bansko (where most of the outdoor activities take place) then be sure to take some time to visit Sofia, the capital,and if you’re around in the summer, the seaside resort town of Varna will also surely not disappoint.
During the summer, temperatures range from 15ºC to 25ºC. During the winter, temperatures range from -5ºC to 2ºC. The region gets about 700 mm of precipitation each year with most of it coming during the winter.

The best way to get to Bansko and the Pirin Mountains is to fly into the international airport in Sofia then take a bus or train south to Bansko.
The best time to visit for ski season is from January to May. The best time for hiking is from June to September.
