Mountain Guides in Chamonix

Explore the cradle of alpinism in the company of a mountain guide!

It is in Chamonix, in the French Department of Haute Savoie, that some of the most important chapters of alpinism history were written.

Many of the classic climbs in the Alps are just around the corner from this charming mountain town: at the foot of the world-renowned Mont Blanc (which at 4810m is the highest mountain in Western Europe), this alpine village is also surrounded by Aiguille du Tour, Aiguille du Midi, Grandes Jorasses, Mont Maudit, Grand Capucin and Les Drus, among many other famous peaks.

It is also here that the first guiding agency was created: the Compagnie de Guides de Chamonix in 1821.

Also extremely popular during the winter, the ski resort of Chamonix offers over 150kms of pistes and an incredible amount (and diversity!) of off-piste terrain. From slopes for beginner off-piste skiers (like the famous Vallee Blanche) to hair-raising steeps and couloirs, Chamonix is paradise for freeriders.

Surrounded by all this incredible terrain, it is no wonder that this mountain town has become a mecca for mountain guides. Both those guides lucky enough to live here and those visiting for the season, will be thrilled to take you to explore the majestic mountains around Chamonix.
