Benasque is a valley in the Aragon autonomous community, sitting at the heart of the Pyrenees. In fact, most of the 3,000 m peaks of this mountain range are in this area, including the two highest peaks in the Pyrenees: Mount Aneto (3,404 m) and Posets (3,375 m). There are mountain trails and ridge traverses for all levels, making Benasque a perfect destination for mountaineers and climbers. It's a long slog of a climb, but doable as long as you're reasonably fit (but you don't need to be an Olympic athlete). The views are stunning. The Puente (bridge) de Mahoma is mentally tough with steep drops either side and some uncomfortable climbs. I'd strongly recommend using a local guide as they help you with the planning, kit and techniques, they share knowledge of the surrounding area that you wouldn't get otherwise and they help you over the more challenging stretches
