Hiking in nature encompasses real benefits for the body, mind and soul. That is why in my tours you will learn new things about these benefits, about the complex aspects of nature, you will learn hiking techniques, how to use a compass and a map and we’ll talk about gear recommendations too. We’ll observe the landscapes, the flora and the fauna and, last but not least, we’ll enjoy an active day in the mountains and you will discover the stories and the legends of the area.

The area around Tarnita Lake, nestled within the Apuseni Mountains in Romania, is considered the most impressive and magnificent natural area in Cluj County, with its **raw beauty and epic scenery of lush green forests, majestic rock formations and exotic flowers and vegetation** providing the perfect backdrop to the peaceful, tranquil and glorious Tarnita Lake.

Tarnita Lake is located just 30km from the city of Cluj-Napoca in Romania, and is **an immensely popular tourist destination** owing to its proximity to the city, as well as its sheer beauty, covering 215 hectares.

Departing from Cluj-Napoca in the morning, we begin hiking in earnest as soon as we reach the lake.

Over the course of the hike we will explore and **discover many of the little-used trails that dot the area**, with many taking us past and through virgin forests featuring flowers and exotic vegetation. Lucky people will bear witness to the deer, stags and boars that inhabit the area.

The focal point of the hike is the superb Lucaci Stone, **a lovely rock formation that offer breathtaking and sweeping views out over the lake**, as well as out to the city of Cluj-Napoca.

Later in the day we will head down to the lake and swim in the many hidden bays that exist close by, before heading back to Cluj-Napoca in the afternoon, weary yet satisfied at having experienced this epic part of Romania first-hand.

The Southern Carpathians are one of the most famous mountain ranges in Eastern Europe, and I will guide you as we spend 6 fun-filled days traipsing and travailing around them, **taking in and admiring some of the best scenery that Romania has to offer**, with the myriad of mountains, lakes, glaciers, forests and lagoons taking the breath away.

The Southern Carpathians are a cluster of mountain ranges located in the South of Romania, and are the second-highest group of mountains in the overall Carpathians. They are known for their **lush green vegetation and forestry, as well as the wide array of flora and fauna** present within**.**

Our trip begins on day 1 when we drive from the city of Cluj-Napoca to Carnic, at the base of the mountains, where we will then undertake a hike around the surrounding **Retezat National Park, widely considered the finest national park in Romania.**

Days 2 and 3 are devoted to longer hikes, with the magnificent **Peleaga Mountain Top (2509m), Galesu Lake and Valea Rea (The Bad Valley)** providing some absolutely jaw-dropping views and settings.

Day 4 is when we shift from the Retezat Mountains to the Fagaras Mountains, with the onward drive to Balea Lake via **the Transfagarasan road regarded as one of the most gorgeous driving routes in the world**.

The penultimate day is spent tackling a long yet rewarding hike to the Caltun Lake and **Negoiu Peak, the second-highest peak in the country at 2535 metres**, and a spot with picturesque and lovely sweeping panoramic views out over the countryside below.

We finish our adventure on day 6 when he head back to Cluj-Napoca, having explored and admired one of Romania and Eastern Europe’s true beauties.

Join me on this fun, epic and awesome 5-day trip of hiking and sightseeing in the Apuseni Natural Park, the most gorgeous and magnificent natural area of Romania featuring **countless lush green forests, lovely glades full of flowers, and deep and majestic caves**, with each area of the park containing sumptuous and sensational views at seemingly every turn.

Apuseni Natural Park, covering a distance of 76 hectares, is located in the North-West of Romania, within the counties of Alba, Bihor and Cluj, and is **an increasingly popular place for visitors due to its extensive array of native and unspoiled flora and fauna.**

Our adventure begins when we meet in Cluj-Napoca, and from here we drive to the park, where we will see **Coiba Mica caves, Vartop Glacier and Scarisoara Glacier, the biggest underground glacier in Europe.**

From here we head to the heart of the park, Padis, on day 2, with the **jaw-dropping Ponor Glade and The Natural Citadels of Ponor** the focal points of the day, with the 3 sinkholes linked by an underground passage of caves a truly impressive sight.

The subsequent 2 days are devoted to many of the numerous hiking trails that dot the park, with **The Galbenei Rock and Galbenei Gorge trail** taking the breath away, and **the Chasm of Bortig, containing the second largest glacier in Romania**, remaining an awesome setting.

Our 5th and final day is spent driving back to **Cluj-Napoca via The Bears Cave and Meziad Cave**, and hopefully will have fallen in love with this superb part of Romania, and made many amazing memories along the way.
