I’m an International Mountain Leader (IML) certified by UIMLA and I'm the President of UPMM (The Belgian Association Member of UIMLA). I used to work for the Belgian army as a Lieutenant-Colonel Commando-Paratrooper and I’m a member of the Belgian Alpine Club (CAB).

Together with my wife Didi, we organize hiking tours with a few donkeys that we own. Join us with your family or your friends, for a half-day, a full day or even several days. These hikes are unique and accessible to everyone.

If you are longing for sunshine, beautiful paths and the sound of cicadas I have the perfect plan for you! Join me next summer on a **_7-day hiking tour_** around the **Canigou (2786m)**, a mythical mountain in the French Pyrenees, in southern France, **near the border with Spain and Catalonia.**

The Canigou is located only 50 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea, north of **Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste,** in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. On clear days, it is even visible from the Mediterranean coast and beyond. The Canigou has a **symbolical significance for Catalan people.** Every year, on 23 June, on Saint John’s Eve, they built a bonfire at the mountaintop and keep a vigil during the night. 

We will meet in Prats-de-Mollo-La Preste, at the Camping Saint Martin. This small village, located **just 13 kilometers from the Spanish border**, is part of Northern Catalonia and belongs to the historical comarca of **Vallespir**.

In the afternoon, we will set up our tents, enjoy an aperitif and an evening meal. Next morning, our hiking adventure begins! We will be **hiking for 5 to 7 hours every day**, spending every night in a different cottage. Please note you need a good physical condition, as to hike about 20 kilometers on each stage.

We take the road and arrive at the campsite in the late afternoon. We set up our tents, then we enjoy an aperitif and an evening meal.

From Thursday to Tuesday, we will hike with a light backpack, carrying our belongings, spending every night in a different cottage, with half-board meals included and a picnic lunch every day.  We spend the last night at a campsite.

Want to discover some beautiful Belgian landscapes with your friends and family? My wife Didi and I invite you to join us on our very special hiking tours around the Famenne-Ardenne area in Wallonia, Belgium.

What makes our hiking tours unique is that we will bring along our donkeys – Jeannot, Myrtille, Praline, Pepito and Charly – who will help us carry our lunches and will make the tour unique for both children and adults alike.

During our hike, we will tell you everything about this beautiful region that we know and love so much! And if you want, we can also prepare a picnic lunch for us to enjoy in the forest, including some of the region’s specialties, including wine, bread, cheese and cold meats.

Some of the stunning spots we can explore include: the Famenne area and Calestienne (Fond des Vaulx). The area is covered in lush forests and stunning rivers and makes for an awesome hiking location.

In total, we will hike for around 5-15 km, depending on whether you choose a half-day or full-day hike. We can even organize multi-day package tours that include all meals and nights in a bivouac or B&B. Don’t hesitate to ask!

Take into account that this tour is open to anyone with a basic fitness level who enjoys spending time in nature and discovering the local culture and gastronomy.

Belgium guided hiking tours with donkeys

**Famenne, in the south of Belgium, is a wonderful destination for a hiking weekend. Get lost in nature and enjoy this excellent break from your routine!**

In the region of Famenne, in Wallonia, there are over 40 hiking trails. And in this occasion I propose to cover two of them! We will take a day to explore each one. Join me and my wife Didi for a beautiful weekend to connect with nature.

We will be accompanied with donkeys carrying our belongings throughout the hike. On Saturday night, we can spend the night camping in a beautiful environment, near a river or on a meadow. Alternatively, we can stay in a B&B if you prefer. We will enjoy some great cuisine! Each day at lunchtime we will stop in a beautiful spot for a tasty picnic, including some of the region’s specialties.

Some of my favourite trails include the forests of Marche, Grimbiémont, Waillet and Humain. I know these regions like the back of my hand, and will be happy to tell you all about them as we progress through our route. Be prepared to feast your eyes with the lush forests and beautiful rivers!

Each day hike will be of around 15 kilometers. Please note that there have to be at least 6 people to do this hike.

This is a great program for the whole family! Anyone with a basic fitness level can join.

Let me invite you to celebrate the start of the year by going on a very unique hiking tour, together with my 2 donkeys, around Marche-en-Famenne in the Belgian province of Luxembourg.

Didi (my wife) and myself will prepare a delicious aperitif for you that we will enjoy before lunch time in the forest. Jeannot and Charly, our two donkeys, will take care of carrying it for all of us.

At the end of the day, we’ll have the chance to taste some local specialties and have diner all together under the heated marquee. Dinner and drinks are included in the price below.

We’ll be walking +/- 18 km. We’ll split the group in 2, Didi and the donkeys will walk at a speed of 3 km/h, while my group will walk at a speed of 4 km/h. The positive altitude gain is of 280 m+.

We organize this hiking tour at specific dates where everyone is welcome to join. You can also book a private hiking day with us. The price and the program will then be adapted based on your specific needs and wishes.

I invite you to **a magical snowshoeing holiday in the Alps**. Join me on this 7-day trip and enjoy unique hikes on the snow around Molines-en-Queyras, in the **Haute-Alpes department**, in the **Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur** region in southeastern France. 

If you are looking for the calm and silence of a small mountain village and you are dreaming of putting your snowshoes on and exploring amazing winter landscapes, then this program is what you are looking for.

During these seven days we will be staying at **a warm and cozy chalet**, the Maison du Gaudissard, at the heart of the village, **enjoying delicious local cuisin**e, and even the view of enchanting small spring flowers. The cottage is a large and typical farmhouse, a perfect base for our snowhshoeing adventures. 

David, Sophie and Nicolas will greet us at the lodge, in their beautiful valley. On the ground floor you will find everything you need for a great stay: **a bar, a restaurant, a nice terrace**, and even a **Finnish sauna**, heated by a wood fire. And, most important, we will sleep in **cozy and comfortable rooms**.

When you venture yourself beyond the Gorges du Guil, you enter another world: the Queyras! You discover a different life, in a remote territory, where you can **enjoy the sun and breathe pure air**. The Queyras is the land of an omnipresent sun and vast protected natural spaces, where men live together with abundant fauna and exceptional flora.

I will take you to discover t**he magical beauty of snowy landscapes in the Queyras**. We will enjoy unique hikes on the snow, in the middle of quiet, beautiful and untouched scenery. Molines-en-Queyras is the perfect starting point for unforgettable snowshoe hikes.

Our snowshoeing tours are **within reach of any good hiker** and they are a great **initiation into snowshoeing**. Everyone will carry a small backpack with a fleece, picnic lunch and water for the day.

From **Sunday to Thursday**, we will enjoy five days of snowshoeing in the beautiful snowy landscapes around Molines-en-Queyras. We will hike on the snow from the cottage to the stunning valleys and mountains of the Queyras, with some car rides to make the most out of our time here.

On **Friday**, after breakfast, we get a packed lunch and return home, with our head full of unforgettable images and experiences.

I invite you to a great snowshoeing weekeend in the heart of the beautiful **Vosges mountains**, around the **Lac Blanc ski resort**, in the historic region of **Alsace in northeastern France**.

The name of the resort derives from the Lac Blanc, a beautiful lake nearby, situated at 1055 meters. The area surrounding the lake becomes a perfect destination for unique snowshoeing tours during the winter. You will discover stunning views over the valley and the Vosges peaks.

Our base during these days will be **a comfortable and well equipped hostel**, with an on-demand kitchen, nestled in Orbey, in the the upper part of the Kaysersberg Valley. It is very close to the Gazon du Faing peak, the Calvary Cal and the slopes of the intimate family resort of Lac Blanc.

We will meet at the lodge around 5 pm and after settling in we will enjoy an aperitif at the hostel bar. In the evening we will have dinner together. Next morning, **our snowhoeing adventure begins!** We will have breakfast, prepare a **packed lunch** and get ready for our first tour.

On our first day, we will enjoy **a great snowshoeing tour,** exploring the **magical winter landscapes** on beautiful trails, passing by the Tête des Faux, the Devin pond, the Bonhomme forest and the Tête des Immerlins. Our snowshoe hike today will cover a total distance of easy **18 kilometers.**

Next day, on Sunday, after having breakfast we will put our snowshoes on and enjoy a **12 kilometer hike on the snow.** We will walk towards the Lac Blanc, the Lac Noir, the Gazon du Faing ride and then return to the cottage.

**Saturday 23 Feb.** We will have breakfast, prepare a packed lunch and get ready for our first snowshoeing tour, on beautiful trails, passing by the Tête des Faux, the Devin pond, the Bonhomme forest and the Tête des Immerlins. Our snowshoe hike today will cover a total distance of easy 18 kilometers. Once back at the hostel, we have a shower, enjoy an aperitif and share a meal together.

**Sunday 24 Feb**. Next day, on Sunday, after having breakfast we will put our snowshoes on and enjoy a 12 kilometer tour. We will walk towards the Lac Blanc, the Lac Noir, the Gazon du Faing ride and then return to the cottage. We return the rented equipment, share a farewell drink and say goodbye.
