Want to experience a classic climb in the **Cusco region** with **alpine rock climbing** and a **glacier traverse**? Then join me on this awesome 2-day ascent of **Helamcoma** in the **Urubamba Mountain Range**. You can even combine this trip with a visit to the **Machu Picchu citadel**.

**What to expect: Day 1**

I’ll pick you up either in **Cusco or the Sacred Valley** and we’ll travel together to **Tastayoc**, which is just past the entrance to **Machu Picchu** at **Ollantaytambo**. From there we’ll continue our journey to basecamp at **Langaluyoc Lake** where we’ll end the day. This will take us from **4,000 meters** above sea level (MASL) to 4400 MASL. On the way you’ll experience stunning views of **Mount Veronica**.

**What to expect: Day 2**

On the second day, we’ll be on the move for **12 hours** starting at 3am. After a quick breakfast, we’ll climb for three hours before reaching the glacier. After **traversing the glacier**, we’ll walk along a rock band. As we continue our ascent, they’ll be a few points where we’ll **rock climb**, but it won’t be more than 5 meters of IV/5.7. Once we arrive at the **base of the summit** you can then decide if you want to ascend via the most **direct route of 80 m V /5.8** or **via the east ridge** with 15 m IV/5.7 rock climbing.

On our descent, we’ll pass by the **glacier** once more before hiking back to base camp and packing up our gear for the return to **Tastayoc**. From there we’ll drive back to **Cusco** or the **Sacred Valley**.

I’ll pick you up from Cusco or Sacred Valley no later than 9am. It’ll take around 2.5 hours by car to reach Tastayoc from Cusco or 1 hour from Ollantaytambo along a curvy but paved road. From Tastayoc we’ll climb to basecamp at Langaluyoc Lake and camp there for the night.

Day one 

We’ll wake up at 3am. After a light breakfast we’ll start our climb to the glacier. From there we’ll walk along a rock band, then do some rock climbing to reach the summit. We’ll go back the way we came and pick up our belongings from basecamp. We’ll then drive back to Cusco and should arrive there at 6pm.

Day two

##### The summit of **Ausangate** is one of the world’s most incredible places. Let me guide you to the top of this **colossal peak**. And enjoy its breathtaking sceneries with me.

**Ausangate (6,384 m)** is the fifth highest peak in **Peru**. Its exclusive membership to the club of the **6,000+ meters** mountains in the **Cuzco Region**, grants it a top place in the most wanted ascents on Earth.

**Heinrich Harrer** was the first to lead an expedition to the summit of **Ausangate** in 1953. After his conquest, many have followed his steps to the top. And you can **be one of them!**

One of the amazing things about this mountain is that its **normal route** i**s not too technically difficult**. However is not an easy ascent. It requires participants to have a **good fitness level**, and an excellent amount of stamina for the trail to the top.

This magnificent peak can be seen from many places around **Cuzco**. But, the views you will get from the summit are simply incomparable. 

The itinerary I suggest begins in **Cuzco** from where we’ll climb up to **Base Camp** in **Machuraca**. Then, from **Base camp** we will start our ascent to the **Advanced camp**. The next day, will be the day in which we **reach the summit**. After taking in the sceneries we’ll head back to the **Base Cam.** Finally, on the last day of our journey we will descend from **Base Camp** back to **Cuzco**.

Climb Ausangate in 4 days, near Cuzco (Vilcanota Range)

The highest mountain of the Urubamba mountain range is the Veronica peak or **Nevado Verónica**, lying at **5910 msnm,** offering one the more impressive mountain views over the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Join me on this 10-day trip and climb this magnificent peak in Peru, visiting also the amazing archaelogical treasure of **Machu Picchu**.

Our main objective on this 10-day trip is the ascent of Veronica, a representative peak of the Cusco Region, with an ascent also to the Helamcoma mountain. We will also hike to **Huchuyqosqo arqueological site** and visit Machu Picchu, in order to get a solid aclimatisasion before climbing Veronica.

Verónica Peak is the most beautiful mountain of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, offering a wonderful access and the possibility of extending the trip to discover the immense cultural and historic treasures of the Cusco region.

The privileged location of this peak make posible to aclimatise ourselves before the ascent with a visit to Machu Picchu and an ascent to **Helamcoma (5370m),** another beautiful peak in this region. We will be hiking at about 4200 msnm and rest after the climbs in the Sacred Valley, at 2900 msnm. Both ascents Veronica and Helamcoma Peak offer **technical routes to get the summit.**

I will pick you up in Cusco and we will travel to the town of Siwas, a 2-hour drive. Once there, we will ascend to the Lenpuncu passs (4200m) and following the original Inca trail we will descend to the Huchuyqosqo citadel.

Then we will go down to the town of Lamay at the Sacred Valley were we are going to transfer you to Ollantaytambo we’re we will take a train to Machu Picchu, the amazing Inca citadel we will visit on the next day of our trip.

On the following days, we will climb to **Helamcoma summit**, as a preparation for our objective. On the eighth day of our trip, after spending one night at Base Camp, and another night at Advanced Camp, we will climb to the **summit of Nevado Verónica**.
