I have been a mountain guide for the last 10 years, and I also work as a Mountain Guide Instructor, and WFR instructor as well.

Despite I live in Buenos Aires, I'm always travelling to different places in Argentina, guiding both north and south destinations, such as northern volcanoes or patagonia summits and traverses.

I also guide bike tours, and teach how to rock and ice climb in different parts or Argentina.

Are you looking for a mountaineering program with excellent views in Patagonia? Relax in the middle of nature and get away from the crowds on this 1-day ascent to **Cerro Madsen** in **El Chalten**, in the Argentinean province of **Santa Cruz**.

As for the meeting point, we’ll arrange it according to your accommodation. First of all, we’ll meet early in the morning and spend 3 hours hiking across a beautiful **Patagonian Nothofagus forest** in the trail to Laguna de los Tres. Then, we’ll reach the Fitz Roy viewpoint, where we’ll contemplate beautiful sights from the massif and have a short break. Our ascent will continue to the Poincenot campsite and, after a bit challenging hike, we’ll reach **Laguna de los Tres**, an emblematic natural spot in the area, and have another break.

Afterwards, we’ll head to our mountain: **Cerro Madsen** (**1,800 meters**). On the last section, we’ll use a rope and help us with our hands to get to the top. The summit will give us a spectacular panoramic view of the **Fitz Roy massif** as well as of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. After a well-deserved rest, we’ll begin the descent and relax at the **Laguna Capri**. Finally, we’ll end the trail and celebrate our achievement with a pleasant craft beer.

Please, keep in mind that the program has a duration of **10-12 hours** and that we’ll face an elevation gain of **1,400 meters**. Also, the weather is usually windy and cold on the mountain. Therefore, although it’s not necessary to have prior hiking experience, it’s mandatory to be **physically fit**. Also, you should be able to carry a 6-8 kilogram backpack with you.

If you wish to take part of a fantastic ascent in **Patagonia**, this 2-day program in the Lanin Volcano is the perfect opportunity for you.

Located on the border area between **Argentina** and **Chile**, **Lanin Volcano** is an active stratovolcano and a very popular point of interest in Patagonia. At an altitude of **3,776 meters**, it belongs to the **Andes** mountain range and it’s inside the **Lanin National Park**. On this **2-day program**, I invite you to reach its summit.

On **day 1**, we’ll meet at **6.30 am** in **San Martin de los Andes** and drive to the base of the volcano, at an altitude of 1,100 meters. From there, we’ll start a 4-6 hour trek to the base camp, at 2,300 meters. Then, on **day 2**, we’ll share breakfast at 3.00 am and begin the climb to the summit. After a long and challenging ascent (6-8 hours), we’ll get to the top of the volcano and celebrate. We’ll descend and have lunch around 3 pm in the base camp. Finally, we’ll return to the volcano’s foot. The complete duration of day 2 will be from **10 to 14 hours**.

Although the itinerary is very demanding, I can assure you that it’s totally worth it. Reaching the Lanin summit in an exhilarating feat. Furthermore, from the top, we’ll be able to contemplate spectacular views of the Andes and its mountains, lakes, glaciers and forests. As for the requirements, it’s not mandatory to have any prior experience in mountaineering. However, you will need to be **physically fit**.
