2-day rock climbing trip in Picos de Europa

This **4-day rock climbing tour in the Cantabrian mountains** will take you climbing to the most beautiful places in **northern Spain**!

**Picos de Europ**a and **Montaña de León** are two of the most special places for rock climbing in **Spain**. Both are located in the north of the country, just a few hours from Madrid, in the **Cantabrian mountain range**.

This area is famous for its beautiful landscape with unique a scenery. There are lots of trails for hiking and also beautiful beaches, but the Rock climbing routes are what we are going there for… and they are marvellous!

My plan is to take you to a different route every day, so you can get a glimpse of the best spots over there.

The first 2 days will be at the Montaña de León. On the first day we’ll go to the **Lago de Luna route**, which is a long one with more than 200 meters of solid and comfortable rock, that has an easy approach and surrounded by a great beauty. And on the second we’ll go to the **Peña del Pincuejo**, where we can choose between the **Línea Blanca** and the **Directa Diedros.** 

Then there is a day off, when we can move to **Picos de Europ**a. And the last 2 days we’ll climb the **Naranjo de Bulnes** and the **Peña de Fresnidiello**

**Let me take you on a 4-day sport climbing program in Asturias and get ready to have a wonderful and exciting adventure.** 

The **Principality of Asturias** is a Spanish is an autonomous community located in the north. It’s an historic region, from where de King of Spain gets its nobility title, and its overwhelmed with cultural places.

But it’s also home of the best sport climbing spots in **Spain**. And I know them all, so I’ll be happy to show you around this truly magical places, that hold lots of routes for different climbing styles.

So each day we’ll visit a different zone and we’ll choose a route according to your goals and skills.

On the first day we’ll go to **Teverga,** the most important sport climbing spot of the region. Then, the second day we’ll visit **Quirós**, also known as **El Llano**, one of the classics of the area. The third day will be dedicated to climb in **Valdehuesa,** that lies a bit more to the south, and has a great variety of routes. And on the last day we’ll climb in **Vegacervera,** a spectacular gorge.

**Picos de Europa is a National Park located in Northern Spain and part of the Cantabrian Mountains range.** In this 2-day rock climbing tour you will head up some of its most popular walls under expert guidance.

The imposing limestone mountains of the Cantabrian Mountains offer more than 1,000 climbing routes of different styles, sizes and difficulty. Furthermore, **this 646.60 km² area is almost unknown, so it is un-crowded during the entire season.**

**Peñas del Prado via the Lago de Luna route will be our first climbing spot**.  **The following day we will go to Peñas del Prado**, where we can choose between two classic routes: Lago de Luna (IV+, 240m.) or Linea Blance(6b, 240m). **On the rocks, we will enjoy amazing views of charming mountain villages nestled in beautiful alpine valleys**.

For accommodation, you can choose the guest houses and hotels in the villages, or the mountain huts.

**This is a rock climbing trip exclusive for sure footed climbers**: you need to be able to climb on V+/6a level. You should also be in a good shape: we will climb long routes on high rocks.

Classic rock climbing in the Cantabrian Mountains

**Peña Vieja is a mountain located in the massif Picos de Europa (Spanish for “Peaks of Europe”), in Northern Spain.** In this outing you can join me for an amazing rock climbing adventure to its summit, via the popular Espolón de los Franceses route.

**The Espolón de los Franceses (1000m, V/V+) is a very popular rock climbing route in Spain and leads to one of the most important summits of Picos de Europa: Peña Vieja (2.613 m).** For this program you should be in good shape and have a minimal experience in simple classic climbs.

**We will get to Espolón de los Franceses with the Fuente Dé cable car.** This climbing route goes through the rock spur of the South East side of Peña Vieja and offers awesome views of the beautiful “Puertos de Áliva”.

**Picos de Europa is a limestone formation which extends over the Spanish Communities of Asturias, Cantabria and León, close to the Cantabrian Sea.** It has fantastic walls to climb away from the queues and bustle of other regions.

**If you want to climb in a quiet and very attractive natural area, this trip is for you.** Come with me to this 3-day climbing tour in Mallos de Riglos and head up its imposing vertical rocks.

**Riglos is a small rural town situated in the southern foothills of the Pyrenees, in the municipality of Las Peñas de Riglos, in Aragon, Spain**. Its “mallos” (local dialect word for “hills”) make this place very popular for climbers around the world.

**Made of sand and stone, these rocks have hundreds of steep up to 300m climbing routes.** Most of them are bolt-protected and easy to access. The multi-pitch routes of this area are especially famous.

**On this 3-day tour we will head up three classic spots in Mallos de Riglos: “Mosquitos”, “Murciana” and “José Antonio Sanz”.**

**“Mosquitos” provides the easiest climb to the summit of La Visera**. This enjoyable climb includes an exposed traverse on a giant limestone block known as “the throne.” It is mainly UIAA Grade V with one section 6a and another one 6b.

**Located on Mallo Pisón, “Murciana” is the most popular route on this formation**. Originally done over 12 days in 1976, it has been retro bolted and now it is a classic sport climb.

**In Mallo Frechín we will climb the José Antonio Sanz route.**  It is generously equipped, mostly 6a difficulty, and involves a vertical and athletic climb.

Mallos de Riglos, located 45 km northwest of Huesca, stands in a beautiful environment and claims 300 sunny days per year. **Upon these huge walls we will enjoy unforgettable panoramic views.**
