My Name is James Monypenny. I have been a passionate rock climber for 15 years, and I have been working as a professional, qualified Rock Climbing and Mountaineering Instructor and Mountain Leader for 12 years.

I have climbed new routes on unclimbed peaks all over the world, in exciting places such as Patagonia, Peru, Kyrgyzstan, China, Bolivia, Pakistan, India, Tajikistan and Nepal, but the cliffs and mountains of Snowdonia, in Wales, remain the most special to me, as I am lucky enough to call them home.

I guide multi-pitch classic Snowdonia climbs, classic roped scrambles, introduction to sea cliff climbing, and other great courses and tours for beginners and experienced climbers.

Situated in northwestern Wales, the cliffs and mountains of Snowdonia National Park are the perfect place to come and learn the basics of rock climbing!

Join me and we will spend a phenomenal day climbing through the stunning scenery around either Union Rock, Lion rock or the Ogwen Valley in this beautiful national park.

We'll meet up at a pre-determined point first thing in the morning (between 8 and 9 am) then head out to a superb rock climbing spot.

We will spend the rest of the day making several ascents, abseiling, learning basic rope skills and going over movement techniques on actual rock.

Situated in northwestern Wales, Snowdonia National Park is home to some of the best rock climbing in the United Kingdom and the world!

Spending a couple of days out here on the rocks is one of the best ways to learn multi-pitch trad climbing, which is exactly what we will do!

Over the course of our two days together, we will combine learning exercises with some independent climbs, in order to practice exactly what we are learning.

On that note, expect to go over the following over the course of our time together:

*   Anchors: building, placement, removal, selection, attachment and equalization
    
*   Equipment use
    
*   Technical Skills, such as tying knots, belaying as leader and as second and lowering
    
*   Using the guide book to find routes and selecting routes once on the rocks
    
*   Personal abseiling
    
*   Basic problem solving
    
*   The principals of leading and actual trad leading, if we get that far
    

Learning all of this will, of course, be combined with making several climbs up some of the park’s many stunningly scenic routes. There is no better reward for learning than applying those skills to get great views.

Home to some of the top rock climbing spots in all of the United Kingdom, Snowdonia National Park in Wales is the perfect place to come for some classic multi-pitch climbing!

After meeting up at around 8 or 9 am at our determined location, we will make a quick drive and approach to our starting point.

We will spend the rest of the day making various ascents and sampling some of the best multi-pitch climbing that Snowdonia (and therefore the world) has to offer. Depending on your skill level, we can find the perfect routes to challenge you and help to improve your skills.

Climb the classic multi-pitch routes in the Snowdonia National Park in Wales

Situated in the northwest of Wales, Snowdonia National Park is home to some world-class scrambling!

Boasting great gullies and soaring ridge lines, there are a lifetime of classic scrambles just waiting to be done!

And we will waste no time in getting out on the rocks. We will meet at about 9 am at our pre-determined meeting point and head right out into the park.

There are a lot of different types of scrambling available to us, ranging from easier ones that require no rope to substantially more difficult ones that will require equipment.

Depending on your technical abilities as well as what you would like to do, we can tailor the perfect itinerary for you.

Among the top scrambling spots available to us will be the classic Snowdon Horseshoe, which is appropriate for all scramblers.

Then there is the Bochlwyd Horseshoe, which is yet another classic route that takes us to the top of Tryfan.

For more advanced scramblers, the Llech Ddu Spur is always a good challenge that yields simple excellent views at the end.
