If you want to explore the outskirts of Bariloche in a different way join me on this great **3-day adventure in the Frey Valley**.

After taking the ski lifts in the **Cerro Catedral ski area**, we’ll do a gentle warm up to then get immersed into the Van Titter valley. From there we’ll start ascending with the help of our splitboards. After 2 hours of walking we’ll cross the Van Titter stream by a bridge to get to Piedritas and an hour later, the **Frey Hut**. It’s a fantastic accommodation located at 1700 meters of altitude.

We’ll have a superb splitboarding time on day 2 around Frey’s terrain. There are infinite options with different orientations, from wide open faces to nice couloirs, all surrounded by granite towers. We’ll **enjoy about 8 hours** out there snowboarding down 1,000 meters of bliss on virgin slopes. Dinner in the hut, a good red wine and go to bed. On day 3 we must head back to town.

A great opportunity to explore one of the most famous places in Bariloche. I strongly recommend you to **come in September**, although July and August are good months too.

Please keep in mind that this program is also suitable for skiers. I can organize mixed groups and guide you all according to the technical equipment that each participant best uses.

3 day splitboarding traverse in the Frey Valley

### **The region of** Patagonia **has a wide variety of ski touring options for all levels of skiers.**

This time, I would like to invite you to a enjoy **a classic ski tour in Patagonia** but in a different way. As a local guide, I’ll take you through uncrowded corners and wild landscapes. Furthermore, you will ski on places you have never imagined!

During this week we will also ski in **two of the most important ski areas** in the Patagonia region. On the one hand, I will guide you through the gentle slopes of **Cerro Lopez** and **Cerro Inacayal**, on the Argentinian side. On the other hand, we will ski around the **Cerro Mirador** ski resort as well as the **Casablanca Volcano**, in Chile.

This amazing cross-country expedition starts in the city of **Bariloche**, where we’ll head to the **Catedral ski area**. From there, we’ll spend 7 unforgettable days skinning up and skiing down through the most outstanding spots of the Patagonia.

We will previously arrange a meeting point in the town of Bariloche where we must be at 4 pm to discuss the itinerary and check the gear.

Introductory meeting and gear check

Meeting at 8:30 am to head out to the Catedral ski center and get our lift tickets. We’ll spend the morning there seeking out the best lines that only the locals know. We’ll decide whether to go off-piste depending on the snow and weather conditions. Lunch and in the afternoon we’ll skin out of bounds to the “La Lagunita” area.

At 8 am we’ll decide where to spend the day depending on the conditions. We’ll get away from the crowds and use our skins to find untracked turns. We’ll review skinning techniques with skis or splitboard as well as some other skills. Return to Bariloche at around 4 pm.

Cerro Lopez or Cerro Chalhuaco

Meeting up at 7 am and then we’ll drive to Villa La Angostura. We’ll take the lifts at Bayo ski area to gain elevation, take some runs and attempt Cerro Inacayal. These are some of the best views while we look for fresh and pristine snow. Overnight in Villa La Angostura

We’ll leave early to cross the border and make the most of our trip to Chile! We’ll spend a rest day at a cabin in the small town of Entre Lagos, dry out gear and get everything ready for our next objective: our first Chilean volcano.

Starting at the base of a small ski area (without taking the lifts) we’ll skin approximately 5-6 hours to reach the summit of Casablanca. Today is a day to enjoy what we’ve learned and ski our first volcano. If weather (and schedule) allows, we’ll find other spots of the volcano to ski. Overnight in Entre Lagos.

If our legs are willing, on the way back we can take a ski on Cerro Mirador, just on the border between Chile and Argentina. The round trip will take 4 hours approximately. Return to Bariloche, dinner and end of such a fascinating program.

As a **local mountain guide** with vast experience in winter sports in **Patagonia**, I bring today a different proposal for you. Join me through remote backcountry spots that only few people know.

I’ve planned this **7 day tour** which starts in the **Cerro Catedral ski area**, quite close to the Bariloche city center. This program is suitable both for skiers and snowboarders. I can organize mixed groups and guide you all according to your technical equipment.

During this expedition we’ll have the pleasure to ascend many peaks and mountain huts with the help of the skins or splitboards and then, enjoy fantastic descents to keep discovering new sites.

In addition I won’t only guide you across the gentle slopes of the **Argentinian Patagonia**. We will also ski and snowboard around the **Cerro Mirador** ski resort and the **Casablanca Volcano**, in Chile!

### **Come to Colonia Suiza and enjoy 5, 6 or 7 days of pure mountaineering!**

I would like to invite you to **a mountain tour** departing from **Colonia Suiza**, very close to Bariloche, and reaching up the top of **Mount Tronador**. An expedition that can be done in 5, 6 or 7 days.

As you may know, Mount Tronador has an altitude of 3554 meters. In fact, it is the highest mountain of the **Nahuel Huapi National Park**. Its summit is formed by two peaks: the International and the Argentinean Peaks.

During the trek we will discover all the wonders that the Nahuel Huapi has to offer. Moreover, it is an area that combines all kind of terrains and environments. From woods and stony grounds to mountain lagoons and huge glaciers.

This **Colonia Suiza – Mount Tronador trek** will also allow us to go all over the mountains of Bariloche and spend the nights in tents or huts. Some of them are the Rocca’s in **Paso de las Nubes** or the Otto Meiling hut near Mount Tronador. Both lodges are really comfortable and cozy.

The Patagonian region offers endless opportunities and flexibility. We can ascend to any of the Mount Tronador's summits or practice some rock climbing on its gigantic crevices. Another option is to have a glacier walk and connect it to other mountain huts.

### **During this** 3-day ski tour **you will get the feeling that the Frey Valley is your backyard.** 

Skiing in Frey is incomparable. We will gain most of our elevation with the help of the ski lifts of the **Catedral ski area**. After warming up on some nice off-piste terrain, we’ll put our skis on and our packs and traverse a scenic ridge line to our descent point into the **Van Titter Valley**. There will be our first untracked lines with some slopes of approximately 30º to 35º.

We will rest and spend the night in the warm and cozy **Frey Hut**, equipped with beds and full food service.

Although this trip can be made in July and August, **I strongly recommend September as the best month**. Springtime is by far the best time to enjoy a perfect backcountry ski program in Patagonia.

In addition, you can choose to spend more days ski touring in the area. Therefore, I also offer a **4-or-5-day adventure** in order to explore other valleys and new backcountry terrain. From the Catedral ski area we will enjoy amazing panoramic views of the entire valley. Then, we will cross a ridge line to find our first descent into the untracked Patagonian terrain. We’ll arrive at Frey hut so we can find the best lines with lighter backpacks. Finally a hot dinner, a good beer and go to bed for tomorrow’s plan.

After having breakfast we will check the equipment and set off. Frey’s terrain is quite varied. There are infinite options with different orientations, from wide open faces to nice couloirs, all surrounded by granite towers. The premise is to enjoy 8 hours out there skiing down 1,000 meters of bliss on virgin slopes. Dinner in the hut, a good red wine and go to bed. Tomorrow we must head back to town.

We’ll repeat the ritual: toasts and mates for breakfast, pack our backpacks and depart. Return to Bariloche having gained lots of vertical feet, experience and happiness.

Frey Valley 3-day ski touring adventure

Running through the heart of Huascarán National Park, the Huayhuash Trek is widely considered to be one of the best in the world!

Over the course of 14 days, we will traverse immaculate mountain passes, circumnavigate pristine glacial lakes and pass in the shadows of some of the highest peaks in the Andes.

The adventure begins after you have made your way from Lima to Huaraz, where we will meet. We’ll begin the fun with an acclimatization trek to a lake above the Santa Cruz bridge, which affords plenty of fantastic views of the Cordillera Blanca.

The following day, the proper Huayhuash Trek begins. After transferring to Llamac, we will begin the more than 100 kilometer odyssey through the heart of the national park.

As we go, we will head through verdant valleys, up over 5,000-meter high mountain passes and down into traditional villages. In the latter, we will meet local people and get the chance to learn a bit about their culture and way of life.

Every day of the trek will bring new and incredible sights. Along the way, expect sublime views of Huayhush, Diablo Mudo, Savage, Jirishanca, Yerupajá and Siulá, among many other iconic Andean mountain peaks.

By the time we have arrived back to Llamac and transfered to Huaraz for our celebration dinner, you will already be planning your next trip to this amazing part of the world.

After flying into Lima, transfer to the bus station and make the eight hour drive to Huaraz.

Arrival

We will start the day by transferring to Santa Cruz Bridge and trek from here to the lake at 3,700m. From here, we will enjoy some great views before returning to Huaraz.

Duration: 6 hours

Acclimatization Trek

We will transfer from Huaraz (3,100m) to Llamac (3,400m) and begin trekking to Matacancha (4,120m).

Start of the Trek

We will climb up to the first pass today, Cacananpunta (4,700m), and then descend down to Mitucocha Lake (4,100m). As we go, we will pass through a lush green valley and by the iconic Jirishanca mountain (6,094m).

We will climb over the second pass of the trip, Carhuac (4,650m) and descend down to Carhuacocha Lake (4,138m). Here, we will enjoy more great views of the Huayhuash range. Many visitors say this is the most beautiful place of the whole trek.

We will climb over the third pass of the trek, Siulá (4,850m), and descend on down to Huayhuash (4,400m), which takes 8 to 10 hours. This is the longest day of the trek, but also the most beautiful as we pass the hanging glaciers of Yerupaja and Siulà Grande en route.

We will start the day by climbing over Portachuelo pass (4,750m) before descending down to Viconga lake (4,600m). Here, we will enjoy the thermal baths.

We will hike over the fifth pass of the trip, Cuyoc Punta (5,000m), enjoying some phenomenal views of Yerupaja, Carnicero, Rasac and other mountains. From the pass, we will descend about 5 hours to Huanac Patay valley.

We will also have the option to hike to San Antonio Pass (5,100m), which offers incredible views of Huayhuash mountain.

We will spend the day trekking down to Huayllapa town (3,580m). Along the way, we will pass some small villages and flower-filled valleys.

We will ascend up to Tapush pass (4,800m) and descend slightly to Gashcapampa camp (4,600m), which is the highest of the trip. From the camp, we will have great views of Diablo Mudo Mountain.

We will spend the day descending the eastern face of the pass and down to Jahuacocha Lake (4,000m), where we will spend the night.

We will spend the day descending for five hours to Llamac (3,350m). From here, we will transfer to Huaraz for a celebratory dinner.

You will have a free morning to explore Huaraz before transferring to Lima in the afternoon.

You will transfer from the hotel to the airport in Lima and fly home.
